Mahindra Thar ROXX - What Is It?

The ‘Thar’ name needs no introduction, but ‘ROXX’ does. Mahindra Thar ROXX is Mahindra’s newest SUV, and it’s more than just an elongated Thar. Built on Mahindra’s fourth-generation Glyde platform, the ROXX measures 4,428mm in length, 1,870mm in width, 1,923mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,850mm. It gets two options for the engines — a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, and two for the transmission — a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque convertor. 4WD is offered just with the diesel drivetrains, the rest being RWD. 

Thar ROXX Variants

As mentioned before, the Mahindra Thar ROXX comes in six broad trims — MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L and AX7L. MX1, MX3, MX5 and AX7L are offered in both diesel and petrol options, while the AX3L and AX5L are diesel-only variants. AWD is available only on MX5, AX5L and AX7L trims. Confusing? Coming to the aspect that matters the most — how much will you have to shell out to drive this SUV off the shelves to your garage. The Mahindra Thar ROXX starting price stands at Rs 12.99 Lakh (ex-showroom) for the rear-wheel drive petrol manual base variant. The variants stuffed with all the features mentioned above will require you to shell out as much as Rs 20.49 Lakh, and a bit more for the taxes and insurance.
