Car Registration Charges in India – RTO Charges for New Cars – Road Tax Slabs in 2021

Every person who buys a car in India has to pay a fee or tax amount that is levied by the state and central governments. The central government tax is referred to as GST while the state tax is known as Road Tax. When a car is registered and purchased, this amount is added to the price of the vehicle and the customer is required to pay that final amount. The tax is calculated on the ex-showroom price of the vehicle, however, there are some taxes that remain constant in every state across the country.

Documents that are required when registering a new car

Usually the dealership takes care of all the formalities in the process which include filling up of forms and submitting them with some documents. The documents required for registering a vehicle with the RTO are listed below:

  • Address Proof: Election Card, Aadhar Card, Electricity Bill, Water Bill, Passport, 6-month Bank Statement
  • Photo ID Proof: PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence

Without these above-mentioned documents, the registration will be considered invalid or incomplete.
