Documents required for renewal of driving license in Mumbai

  • Duly filled and signed Form 9.
  • Copy of the original driving license that will soon expire

  • Mumbai Traffic Police Challan clearance report.

  • Certificate of fitness.

  • Step 1: Fill the application form to obtain a Duplicate Driving License in Mumbai

Offline Procedure

  • Step 4: After submission, you will obtain an application number for a preliminary test.
  • Step 5: Give the test, and on passing it, and you will be issued a learner’s license.
  • Step 5: Make the payment for the driving license fees of Rs. 400 and choose a date and time to give the test for permanent driving licence.
  • Step 6: Visit the RTO 30 days after receiving the learner’s license.
  • Step 7: Take the test and pass it to obtain a permanent driving license.

Online Procedure

As we said, things have now become a lot easier and you can initiate several driving licence-related services right from the comfort of your home. All you'll need to do so is an internet-enabled computer or a smart device. Following are all the required steps to apply online for a driving license in Mumbai -

  • Step 1: Go to https://transport.maharashtra.gov.in/1035/Home and choose the Driving Licence option
  • Step 2: Download the application form and print it
  • Step 3: Deposit the form to the RTO
  • Step 4: Deposit all documents mentioned above
  • Step 5: Obtain a slot from the RTO for the driving test
  • Step 6: On passing the test, you will get the DL in 2 to 3 weeks
