Documents required for renewal of driving license in Mumbai

Getting your driving licence renewed in Mumbai is a pretty easy task as long as you have all the necessary documents to support your application. Following are the documents that are required to be submitted along with the application form for the driving licence renewal in Mumbai-

  • Duly filled and signed Form 9.
  • Copy of the original driving license that will soon expire
  • In case the holder of the driving licence is more than 40-years old, he’ll be required to produce a medical certificate along with Form 1 A.
  • 2 Passport-sized photographs
  • Copies of self-attested address and age proof documents.
  • Receipt of its payment of the Rs. 200 application fees

Steps to apply for a Duplicate Licence in Mumbai

In an unfortunate event of your driving licence getting stolen or damaged, you shouldn’t panic and instead, simply go to the RTO to obtain a duplicate driving licence. Here are all the steps you need to follow to get a duplicate driving licence in Mumbai

  • Duly Filled and signed application form.
  • Copies of an affidavit, an F.I.R, and a complaint.
  • Form No. 1.
  • Mumbai Traffic Police Challan clearance report.
  • Self-attested copy of residence proof.
  • Receipt of payment of Rs. 400 duplicate license fee
  • Certificate of fitness.

Steps to apply for a Duplicate Licence in Mumbai:

  • Step 1: Fill the application form to obtain a Duplicate Driving License in Mumbai
  • Step 2: Submit the required documentation.
  • Step 3: Once the documents are verified, you will be issued a duplicate driving license in a couple of days.

Offline Procedure

Earlier, obtaining a driving licence was only possible by visiting the RTO and going through a time-consuming and paperwork-heavy procedure. Now, however, things can be done online right from the comfort of your home. Still, however, in case you are not comfortable with using the internet, you can head to the RTO to apply for the duplicate driving licence. In Mumbai, to obtain a fresh driving licence, you must first apply for a learner’s licence and then apply for a permanent driving licence. Below are the steps that need to be followed to get a driving licence in Mumbai-

  • Step 1: Visit the Mumbai RTO and obtain a Form 4.
  • Step 2: Fill the form with all the required details and attach it with all the required documents.
  • Step 3: Submit Form 4 along with the required documents to the RTO.
  • Step 4: After submission, you will obtain an application number for a preliminary test.
  • Step 5: Give the test, and on passing it, and you will be issued a learner’s license.
  • Step 5: Make the payment for the driving license fees of Rs. 400 and choose a date and time to give the test for permanent driving licence.
  • Step 6: Visit the RTO 30 days after receiving the learner’s license.
  • Step 7: Take the test and pass it to obtain a permanent driving license.

Online Procedure

As we said, things have now become a lot easier and you can initiate several driving licence-related services right from the comfort of your home. All you’ll need to do so is an internet-enabled computer or a smart device. Following are all the required steps to apply online for a driving license in Mumbai –

  • Step 1: Go to https://transport.maharashtra.gov.in/1035/Home and choose the Driving Licence option
  • Step 2: Download the application form and print it
  • Step 3: Deposit the form to the RTO
  • Step 4: Deposit all documents mentioned above
  • Step 5: Obtain a slot from the RTO for the driving test
  • Step 6: On passing the test, you will get the DL in 2 to 3 weeks
