Maruti Suzuki Victoris: A Practical SUV Built for Everyday Comfort

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris focuses on delivering a balance between comfort, efficiency and daily usability. It doesn’t try to be overly sporty. Instead, it aims to get the basics right. The suspension setup is tuned more towards comfort. It absorbs bumps well and keeps passengers comfortable during city driving. Even over rough patches, the Victoris feels composed.

Inside the cabin, the Victoris continues with a practical approach. The seats feel comfortable, especially for long drives. The cabin also feels spacious, which makes it suitable for families. The Maruti Victoris price makes it an attractive option in its segment. You’re not just paying for features, but also for reliability and low running costs. Overall, the Victoris focuses more on comfort and practicality rather than aggressive driving behaviour.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris price in India starts at ₹10.50 lakh and goes up to ₹19.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Victoris offers petrol, CNG and hybrid options, which gives buyers flexibility depending on usage.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris comes with multiple engine options. These include a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a strong hybrid setup. It is available with both manual and automatic transmissions. The powertrain focuses on smooth and efficient performance rather than aggressive acceleration.

City Driving

Speaking of city driving, the Victoris offers an effortless drive with light controls. The engine feels smooth, while even the torque spread in the lower revs is such that one doesn’t require frequent gearshifts in traffic. The automatic gearbox has a near-leg-free operation. The suspension has been tuned to easily absorb all the potholes and undulations the city roads can throw at it.

Highway Driving

On highways, the Victoris feels stable. The engine delivers enough power for overtaking. At cruising speeds of 100-120 km/h, the SUV remains comfortable. The NVH stays well-controlled and overall, the Victoris comes across as a vehicle that’s built for relaxed driving rather than sporty performance.

While the Maruti Suzuki Victoris is available in multiple permutations and combinations based on the engine, transmission, and feature-set you choose, its variant lineup can be broadly classified into four levels - LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZXI Plus.

LXI: This is the entry-level variant. It offers essential features such as power steering, power windows, LED taillamps, 17-inch steel wheels, Automatic climate control with rear AC vents, push-button start/stop, keyless entry, tilt & telescopic steering adjustment, 6 Airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill-hold assist, Traction control, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

VXI: This variant adds more comfort features and infotainment options. While the VXi retains the same 7-inch touchscreen and automatic climate control from the LXi, it introduces features like cruise control and a rearview camera. On the strong hybrid option, it even gets a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

ZXI: This variant is often perceived as the most VFM trim. Building on the VXI, this variant offers 10-spoke 17-inch black alloy wheels, Auto-LED projector headlamps with 'Follow-me-home' function, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), LED front fog lamps, and UV-cut glass for the windows, a powered tailgate with gesture control, a wireless smartphone charger (with cooling), and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

ZXI Plus: This is the top variant. It offers Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, a HUD, ambient lighting, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, and an 8-speaker Infinity sound system with a subwoofer and Dolby Atmos.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris carries a modern SUV design. The front section features a bold grille and sleek LED headlamps. The design feels sharp but not overdone. From the side, the Victoris looks well proportioned. Alloy wheels and strong lines enhance its stance. At the rear, LED tail lamps and a clean design give it a modern look. Overall, the Victoris looks premium without being too flashy.

Inside, the Victoris focuses on comfort and practicality. The dashboard layout is simple and easy to use. The infotainment system supports modern connectivity features. Seat comfort is good for long drives. Rear seat space is also adequate.

The SUV also includes features like climate control and connected car tech. Overall, the Victoris offers a comfortable and practical cabin.

In terms of safety, the Victoris offers a strong set of features. It includes multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and hill assist. Higher variants also offer advanced safety features like ADAS. These features make the Victoris safe for daily driving.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris competes with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.

Hyundai Creta: Offers strong features, turbo petrol and diesel engine options and a premium design, but costs more than the Victoris.

Kia Seltos: Looks bolder, offers a more premium cabin and even comes with powerful turbo-petrol and diesel engine options, but costs more than the Victoris.

Compared to these rivals, the Victoris offers better efficiency and practicality.

Even though the Maruti Suzuki Victoris has many strengths, it also has a few limitations. Buyers should consider both sides.

ProsCons
Strong hybrid option delivers excellent mileage and reduces long-term running costs significantly.Performance is not very sporty compared to turbo petrol rivals in the same segment.
Spacious cabin ensures comfort for both city commutes and long-distance travel.Interior quality feels average in lower variants compared to premium competitors.
Multiple engine options provide flexibility including petrol, CNG and hybrid setups.Waiting period for popular variants can be longer in some cities.
Comfortable suspension improves ride quality on rough roads and daily driving conditions.Automatic gearbox may not feel as quick or responsive as some rivals.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is a well-balanced SUV that focuses on practicality, efficiency and comfort. It may not be the most exciting SUV, but it offers a reliable and usable package. For buyers who want a family SUV with good mileage and low running cost, the Victoris makes sense. Overall, the Maruti Victoris price reflects the value and practicality it offers.

My Renault Kwid is cute and cheap to run close to 20 kmpl. Ground clearance is good for potholes but the music system is basic(I expected better). Not great on the highway, but perfect for short city hops and grocery runs, it has been a life saver for dropping my kids and wife for school and work.

Frequently asked questions

No. The Kwid is an entry-level hatchback and not an SUV. That said, it benefits from an SUV-like styling and a high ground clearance of 184 mm. The body claddings, roof rails and the skid plates give it an SUVish look.

No. The Renault Kwid is still in production and available in India at all authorized Renault showrooms. The long-standing Maruti Suzuki Alto-rival is available in a price range of ₹4.70 - 6.45 lakh

Some users report that Kwid’s engine and cabin noise can feel intrusive. Its lightweight build, minimal insulation, three-cylinder engine and simple suspension setup contribute to a noisier ride.

Yes, the Renault Kwid can climb hills but with limits. Manual variants are okay for gentle hills. However, AMT versions may struggle on steep inclines. With no manual mode on offer, the gear control gets harder and that limits the car’s capabilities.

Yes. The Renault Kwid is affordable to own and maintain. Simple mechanics, cheap parts, and easy service, along with decent fuel economy, keep the running costs low.

How long will Kwid last?

On proper maintenance, the Renault Kwid can last for many years. The build is simple and durable, but longevity depends heavily on regular servicing and gentle driving.

What is the top speed of Kwid?

The Renault Kwid's 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine makes 67 bhp and 91 Nm, which is pretty decent for a car of this size, price and segment. The motor can propel the Kwid to a top speed of roughly 120 km/h. This makes it suitable for city and occasional highway use.

Is it good to buy a second-hand Kwid?

Yes, you can buy a second-hand Renault Kwid but be cautious. Check for prior damage and ensure the vehicle has been maintained well. Especially avoid AMT cars if you need frequent hill driving.

Should I buy Kwid?

Consider these points: Great choice if your budget is tight and you prioritize city driving, style, and mileage. Avoid if safety or long highway trips are important to you. There are safer options available.

How safe is Kwid?

Renault Kwid has been awarded a poor 1-star rating in Global NCAP tests for adult and child safety. The body structure is weak, and you get only basic safety kit like dual front airbags and ABS.

How good is Kwid to buy?

Renault Kwid is a decent option if your needs are limited to short city commutes and you value low cost. But if you need better safety, refinement, or comfort, consider alternatives like the Maruti Suzuki Ignis despite the higher price.

Can Kwid travel long distance?

Of course, the Renault Kwid can travel long distances, especially if driven gently on highways. But moderate power, lesser safety, and average comfort level may limit it to occasional long trips.

Is Kwid good for long drive?

The Reanult Kwid is certainly not the best option for long drives. It handles short highway drives fine, but long trips can feel tiring due to noisy cabin, limited high-speed performance, and less creature comforts.

Which is better, Alto or Kwid?

16. Which is better, Alto or Kwid? While there is no clear winner between the Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Renault Kwid, one can choose between the two vehicles based on his exact requirements - Alto: Extremely affordable to buy and run, smoother 3-cylinder engine, better tuned AMT, widespread service support. Kwid: SUV-like looks, bigger boot, and better tech features (touchscreen, digital display). So, one can choose the Renault Kwid if he wants style and more features. However, those looking for a cheaper and slightly more refined option should opt for the Alto.

Which is better, Alto 800 or Kwid?

While both the cars have their own strengths, the Kwid might be a better option for those looking for style, space and more features. On the other hand, the Alto 800 is smaller, lighter and easier to buy and run.

Which car is best, Alto K10 or Renault Kwid?

There is clear winner between the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Renault Kwid. However, one can choose between the two rivals based on his requirements- Alto K10: Peppier engine, better handling, easier to buy and maintain, better resale Kwid: Better space, SUVish looks, more features

Which is better, Kwid or Swift?

Maruti Suzuki Swift and Renault Kwid belong to different segments. The Swift is clearly a costlier, more feature-packed and bigger hatchback here. However, you may decide between the two vehicles based on your Maruti Swift: More powerful engine, better driving feel, higher reliability, more features, better space management and strong resale. Kwid: Cheaper, but offers fewer features and less safety.
