Outline

It’s no secret that Kia India is working on the Syros EV and the same has recently been spotted on test on Indian roads. The Syros hasn’t been a runaway success like other Kia cars since it comes with a set of small issues, which we expect Kia would fix in the upcoming Kia Syros EV. Read the story to know more about the 2026 Kia Syros EV design, features, powertrain and other important details.

Kia Syros EV design details

The Kia Syros has been designed to boast both ICE and electric powertrains and that’s evident in the way it looks. The flat front fascia of the Syros ICE is indicative of its future EV underpinnings, hence, the Kia Syros EV is unlikely to take a large departure from its ICE counterpart. The spy shots reveal the test car covered in heavy camouflage but with identical design elements, like the LED headlights and tail lights and 17-inch alloy wheels, all of which are identical to that of the Syros ICE.

Kia Syros EV interior and features

Like the exterior, the Kia Syros EV interior is also likely to remain identical to its ICE counterpart, except for a few EV-specific changes. The biggest change could be the addition of a floating centre console, like the one seen on the Kia Carens Clavis EV. On the features front, the Kia Syros EV is likely to come packed with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, front and rear ventilated seats, 12.3-inch screens with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charging, V2L charging and a lot more.

Kia Syros EV powertrain details

Coming to the Kia Syros EV powertrain, the carmaker is yet to divulge any details about the same. Since the Kia Carens Clavis EV shares its battery packs with the Hyundai Creta Electric, it would be right to expect the Kia Syros EV sharing its battery packs with a similarly-sized Hyundai, which in this case happens to be the Hyundai Inster EV.

The Hyundai Inster EV comes with a choice of two battery pack options — 42kWh and 49kWh — and both can be offered with the India-spec Syros EV. Hyundai is yet to confirm its plans to launch the Inster EV in the Indian market. At this stage, it’s too early to guess the range, performance and charging specifications of the Syros EV.

Kia Syros EV launch timeline and rivals

While Kia is yet to reveal any timeline, we expect the Kia Syros EV launch to take place between the end of 2025 and at the beginning of 2026. The carmaker could reveal the electric SUV sometime later this year, followed by the price announcement early next year. Once launched, the Kia Syros EV will go head on with the Tata Punch EV, Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV and Citroen e C3.
