Tata has launched the Sierra EV in India at a starting price of Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric SUV is based on Tata's acti.ev platform and is available in five variants: Pure, Pure S, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered A. It comes with two battery pack options, offering a claimed range of over 500 km.

The Sierra EV also comes with a lifetime battery warranty, although Tata is yet to reveal the detailed terms and conditions. In India, it will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti e Vitara, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming VinFast VF 6.

All-new Tata Sierra EV exterior

On the outside, the Tata Sierra EV looks largely similar to its ICE counterpart, but there are a few EV-specific design changes. Up front, it gets a connected LED light bar with vertically stacked LED headlamps at either end and a blanked-off grille. Unlike the ICE Sierra, the EV also misses out on the black trim around the lighting elements and the 'Sierra' lettering on the nose.

The side profile remains largely unchanged. It features flush-fitting door handles, Tata EV badging on the front doors, and 19-inch alloy wheels with aero inserts. At the rear, the Sierra EV gets a connected LED tail light, 'Sierra EV' lettering on the tailgate, revised skid plates, a shark-fin antenna, and a roof-mounted spoiler.

The Sierra EV is available in six exterior colours: Coorg Cloud, Bengal Rouge, Andaman Adventure, Pure Grey, Pristine White, and Rishikesh Rapids. The Nainital Nocturne shade is exclusive to the QWD variants.

Tata Sierra EV features

The Sierra EV comes loaded with features, led by Tata's Horizon View triple-screen setup comprising a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch co-driver display, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. It also gets a multi-colour HYPAR HUD, Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, iRA.ev connected car technology with the Arcade.ev app suite, 5G connectivity, and India's first EV route planner integrated with Android Auto.

Other highlights include a 12-speaker JBL Black audio system with Dolby Atmos, a soundbar and subwoofer, DrivePay in-car UPI payments, AirConsole gaming, dual-zone automatic climate control, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function, rear wiper and washer, extendable under-thigh support, a BreathIQ air purifier with ioniser, leatherette upholstery, front and rear armrests, rear window blinds, an auto-dimming IRVM, a 622-litre boot, a 55-litre frunk, and one of the largest panoramic sunroofs in the segment measuring 1,525 mm × 925 mm.

2026 Tata Sierra EV battery & range

The Tata Sierra EV is offered with two battery pack options: a 63kWh unit with a claimed 585 km MIDC range, and a larger 75kWh pack with a claimed 665 km MIDC range. Tata also quotes a more realistic C75 range, with the 75kWh version delivering around 510-530 km and the 63kWh version offering about 440-460 km on a full charge.

The SUV supports DC fast charging, with Tata claiming up to 238 km of range can be added to the 63kWh version and up to 263 km to the 75kWh version in just 15 minutes. Buyers can choose between rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions. The AWD model uses a dual-motor setup, with the front motor producing 140PS and 164Nm, while the rear motor delivers 238PS and 340Nm.

Tata claims the Sierra EV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds, making it one of the quickest electric SUVs in its segment. It also offers six terrain modes: Normal, Mud Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl, Grass/Snow, and Custom.

New Tata Sierra EV charging options

The Sierra EV supports multiple charging options, including a 3.3 kW portable charger, a 7.2 kW AC home charger, and up to 120 kW DC fast charging. Using a 120 kW DC charger, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in around 26 minutes.

The charging port features an illuminated LED ring that indicates the charging status, whether the battery is charging, fully charged, or needs attention. The Sierra EV also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, allowing it to power external devices or charge another compatible EV.
