BMW India has opened bookings for the updated 7 Series and i7 ahead of their launch in the country. The refreshed flagship sedan range gets revised exterior styling, a redesigned cabin, new display technology and updated petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. Bookings are available through authorised BMW dealerships across India. Customers can also register their interest through the BMW India website.
BMW 7 Series revised exterior design
The BMW 7 Series gets a new illuminated BMW kidney grille and redesigned split headlights. The slim daytime running lights sit at the top, while the main lighting units are positioned lower down near the air curtains.
The side profile retains the flush-fitting door handles and adds new alloy wheels. An embossed ‘7’ badge is visible on the B-pillar when both doors on the same side are open. At the rear, the sedan gets slimmer tail lamps that extend into the tailgate. The boot release, rear camera and washer nozzle are integrated into the bodywork, while the revised bumper gets a diffuser-style insert.
Redesigned BMW 7 Series cabin with larger displays
The updated BMW 7 Series gets a redesigned dashboard with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and a 14.6-inch front passenger display. The conventional digital instrument cluster has been replaced by a full-width projection at the base of the windscreen. The system runs on BMW Operating System X and supports over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice controls.
Other updates include a new four-spoke steering wheel and a revised ambient lighting setup. The cabin also gets a full-width light strip, illuminated rear speaker grilles and additional lighting behind the front seats.
The Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System comes with up to 18 speakers. The seats offer electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, massage functions and lumbar support. Heated armrests are also included. The front passenger seat can move fully forward to create more legroom for the rear passenger.
Larger rear-seat entertainment screen
The updated 7 Series gets a larger 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen for rear passengers. It supports video calls, content streaming and gaming. The rear-door displays allow passengers to adjust the Theatre Screen, change its viewing angle and control cabin functions. BMW has also repositioned the automatic door controls for easier access.

The 740i xDrive petrol and 740d xDrive diesel continue with 3.0-litre inline-six mild-hybrid engines. Both models use an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. The updated 740i produces 400hp and 580Nm, while the 740d develops 313hp and 670Nm.BMW has not confirmed whether the 7 Series plug-in hybrid will be introduced in India.
The updated i7 range gets a larger 112.4kWh battery pack. The previous rear-wheel-drive i7 50 eDrive has been replaced by the i7 50 xDrive, which now gets all-wheel drive. It produces 455hp and 660Nm. The range-topping i7 M70 xDrive produces 680hp and up to 1,100Nm of torque.
Expected pricing in India
The current BMW 7 Series is priced at Rs 1.85 crore, ex-showroom, for both petrol and diesel versions. The current i7 range is priced between Rs 2.10 crore and Rs 2.58 crore, ex-showroom. The updated range is expected to receive a price increase when launched in India. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, its main rival, is currently priced between Rs 2.20 crore and Rs 2.38 crore, ex-showroom.
