Honda Cars India premiered the ZR-V hybrid at an event on 22 May 2026, alongside the launch of the updated City sedan. The ZR-V marks Honda's entry into a more premium SUV space in India and is being positioned as the brand's new flagship offering in the country. Pre-launch bookings for the model are already open at authorised Honda dealerships, and deliveries are confirmed to begin from mid-July 2026.

Honda ZR-V hybrid India debut alongside a big product day

Honda ZR-V

Honda chose to reveal the ZR-V at the sidelines of the City facelift launch, making it a significant product event for the brand. The ZR-V will be imported as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) from Japan, and only a limited number of units will be made available initially. Honda is using the government's provision that allows up to 2,500 CBU imports annually without undergoing homologation. An official launch date is yet to be announced, but the July delivery timeline gives a clear sense of when customers can expect to get behind the wheel.

Upcoming Honda ZR-V hybrid design

Before its official reveal, camouflaged test mules of the Honda ZR-V had already been spotted on Indian roads, hinting at its overall shape and proportions. The production version now confirms a clean and understated design with flowing body lines, smooth surfaces, and several aerodynamic elements integrated into the bodywork.

At the front, the SUV gets a glossy black grille with vertical slats, slim LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, and sporty air intakes that also help improve airflow. Other highlights include sequential LED turn indicators, LED indicators integrated into the ORVMs, sporty 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, dual exhaust finishers, and a body-coloured rear spoiler. The rear design focuses on giving the SUV a wider stance with sleek LED tail-lamps and a gun-metallic skid garnish on the bumper.

In terms of dimensions, the ZR-V measures 4,567 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,621 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,655 mm. Honda will offer the SUV in four colour options: Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Crystal Black Pearl.

Honda ZR-V hybrid interior

Inside, the Honda ZR-V gets a premium all-black cabin with a sporty theme and soft-touch materials across key touchpoints. The wide horizontal dashboard design gives the interior a more open and spacious feel, while metallic detailing and contrast stitching add a more upscale touch.

The SUV also gets leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and a rear armrest for added passenger comfort. Honda has also focused on making the cabin easy to use with a clean Human-Machine Interface layout and a high-set centre console featuring an electronic button-style gear selector.

Honda ZR-V hybrid features

The Honda ZR-V gets a strong mix of premium features, practicality, and safety tech. At the centre is a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired with a 12-speaker Bose sound system. The SUV also gets a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, USB Type-A and Type-C ports, and ambient lighting inside the cabin.

Honda also offers powered front seats with memory function for the driver, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, a hands-free powered tailgate, electronic parking brake, and regenerative braking paddle shifters. The rear seats fold in a 60:40 split, while boot space expands up to 1,313 litres with the second row folded. It also gets multiple storage spaces including large door pockets, cup holders, under-console storage, and a spacious centre armrest box.

On the safety side, the ZR-V comes with Honda Sensing ADAS features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam, and Lead Car Departure Alert. Other safety equipment includes 8 airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, driver attention monitor, hill descent control, electronic stability control, ISOFIX mounts, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVM, and four-wheel disc brakes.

Honda ZR-V hybrid powertrain — Honda's first 2.0-litre hybrid in India

The Honda ZR-V brings Honda’s 2.0-litre e:HEV strong hybrid powertrain to India for the first time. The setup combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a dual-motor hybrid system, producing a combined 184bhp and 315Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through an e-CVT automatic gearbox.

Honda claims a 0-100 kmph time of 7.9 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 172 kmph. The SUV also delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 22.8 kmpl, with a claimed driving range of up to 1,300 km on a full tank. Globally, the ZR-V is also available with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and AWD option, but the India-spec model will be offered only with the hybrid front-wheel-drive setup for now.

Honda ZR-V hybrid expected price and competition

Honda has not yet announced the official price for the ZR-V. The car is expected to land somewhere in the range of Rs 45-50 lakh (ex-showroom), which would put it in the territory of the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Meridian. Given the hybrid powertrain and the premium feature set, the ZR-V brings a different value proposition to that space, especially for buyers who prioritize fuel efficiency without giving up on performance.
