Outline

The Mahindra BE 6 is set to receive a meaningful cabin update, according to an exclusive report from Autocar India, with the midsize electric SUV expected to gain a passenger-side screen, a redesigned dashboard, and a new upholstery colour option. Since the BE 6 was only launched in November 2024, a full mid-lifecycle update remains some time away, suggesting these changes will most likely arrive as part of a model year update instead.

Mahindra already offers a three-screen setup on both the XEV 9e and XEV 9S, and the same unit is expected to make its way to the BE 6 as part of this update. Triple-screen dashboards, typically comprising a digital driver's display, a central infotainment screen, and a dedicated passenger-side screen, have become increasingly common across the segment, with Tata Motors also now offering similar setups on some of its models. Adding this feature to the BE 6 would help Mahindra keep the SUV competitive as more rivals adopt similar cabin technology.

It is not yet confirmed whether Mahindra will roll out the triple-screen setup across the entire BE 6 lineup or restrict it to top-spec variants, a detail that will likely become clearer closer to the update's official rollout.

A more conventional Mahindra BE 6 dashboard layout in the works

Beyond the added screen, Mahindra is also reportedly developing a version of the BE 6 with a more conventional dashboard layout, one that does away with the current halo-like loop surrounding the driver's area. This distinctive loop design, while visually striking, has drawn criticism for practical reasons: it does not leave enough space for a second cupholder, and it makes the wireless charger and USB Type-C ports difficult to reach from the passenger side, an issue that was specifically flagged during Autocar India's road test review of the BE 6.

Whether this revised, more conventional layout becomes the new standard design or is offered as an alternative alongside the current halo-style dashboard remains unclear at this stage.

Mahindra BE 6 new upholstery colour option

In addition to the dashboard and screen changes, the BE 6 is set to receive a new black-and-tan upholstery colour combination, offered alongside the current black-and-grey theme. This addition gives buyers an extra option to personalise the cabin's appearance, a relatively simple but meaningful update for an SUV that already competes on the strength of its interior presentation.

Mahindra BE 6 rivals

The BE 6 already carries an extensive feature list, and these updates are expected to further strengthen its position against midsize electric SUV rivals such as the Tata Sierra EV and Hyundai Creta Electric. As of 29 July 2026, the Sierra EV is priced between Rs 18.79 lakh and Rs 25.99 lakh, while the Creta Electric is priced between Rs 18.03 lakh and Rs 23.67 lakh, placing both rivals in a similar bracket to the BE 6's current Rs 18.90 lakh to Rs 26.90 lakh range.

Expected pricing and timeline

With the addition of a new screen, redesigned dashboard elements, and an additional upholstery option, a small price increase is likely once these updates are officially introduced. Mahindra has not yet announced a specific launch timeline for the updated BE 6, meaning prospective buyers may need to wait for further confirmation before these changes become available on showroom-spec vehicles.
