Mahindra Thar facelift 2025 launch in September? — What we know so far

The current generation of the Mahindra Thar 3-door has been on sale for about five years now, and a facelift for the same is due this year. Latest media reports suggest that the Mahindra Thar facelift 2025 launch could take place sometime next month. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift.
New Mahindra Thar design changes
As seen in various spy shots that have been circulating on the internet, the facelifted Mahindra Thar will get the new segmented six slat grille that we first saw on the Mahindra Thar Roxx. Other expected changes include C-shaped LED DRLs, tweaked bumpers, revised taillights, and a new design for the alloy wheels. Notably, the current Mahindra Thar also came in a convertible guise, which was continued a few months ago. We cannot confirm as of now if the convertible option will be offered on the facelift or not.

Upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift features and interior
The facelifted SUV is also expected to see noticeable changes inside the cabin, such as a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen unit for infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charger, 360-degree cameras, and more. There might also be a new seat upholstery on offer.
2025 Mahindra Thar facelift engine options
Mahindra is likely to continue offering the same petrol and diesel engines on the 3-door Thar as the current model. This includes a 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual, a 2.2-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor, and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor. It is also expected to continue to come in both RWD and AWD configurations.

Upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift India launch timeline
It is expected that the updated Thar 3-door will be launched in India in September 2025, though the manufacturer is yet to confirm the same. The facelifted version is expected to be priced a bit higher than the outgoing model, given the additional features that it is expected to come packed with.
