Mahindra XUV 3XO becomes the most-affordable SUV with Dolby Atmos

Dolby Laboratories and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. have partnered to bring Dolby Atmos immersive audio technology to the newly launched Mahindra XUV 3XO. The feature will debut with the REVX A variant, making the XUV 3XO the first SUV in India under ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom) to offer Dolby Atmos. Deliveries are set to begin from mid-September 2025.

Immersive in-car audio with Dolby Atmos

Originally designed for cinemas, Dolby Atmos enables a three-dimensional sound experience by adding height and depth to audio. In cars, this translates to improved clarity, detail, and immersion, placing occupants at the center of the soundstage for a more engaging experience during both daily commutes and long journeys.

Audio setup in the XUV 3XO

The Dolby Atmos system in the XUV 3XO features a six-speaker configuration, optimized for the SUV’s cabin acoustics. Higher-spec AX7L variants also get an additional subwoofer for enhanced bass and richer sound output. Dolby Atmos will be offered across four variants: REVX A, AX5L, AX7, and AX7L.

Integrated streaming with Dolby Atmos music

The infotainment system in Dolby Atmos–equipped variants will provide built-in access to Gaana, enabling users to stream Dolby Atmos Music directly from the SUV’s interface. The XUV 3XO is now the fourth Mahindra model to feature Dolby Atmos, following its debut in the BE 6, XEV 9e, and Thar ROXX. With this addition, Mahindra continues to position in-cabin audio quality as a major differentiator in India’s increasingly competitive SUV market.

Industry perspectives

R. Velusamy, President – Automotive Business (Designate) at Mahindra, said the integration of Dolby Atmos reflects the brand’s vision of making premium in-car features more accessible. “The XUV 3XO marks a milestone by introducing Dolby Atmos in the sub-₹12 lakh SUV segment, enhancing in-cabin entertainment for a broader group of consumers,” he stated.

Karan Grover, Senior Director – Commercial Partnerships (IMEA) at Dolby, added that the partnership underscores Dolby’s mission to make high-quality immersive audio more widely available. “Bringing Dolby Atmos to the XUV 3XO allows more Indian consumers to experience spatial sound in their vehicles, elevating in-car entertainment,” he noted.
