MG Comet EV price jumps in July 2025 — Can your wallet keep up?

In the last hike back in May 2025, the MG Comet EV price only went up for the non-BaaS (Battery as a Service) variants. It was a partial move—the variant with BaaS stayed unchanged. This time, it’s across the board. Both trims, with and without BaaS, have seen an increase of up to Rs 15,000. And there’s more. The rental fee has gone up too, by Rs 0.2 per kilometre. On a single ride, it’s barely noticeable. But over weeks or months, the gap becomes obvious. You’ll start to feel it.

As you can see in the table above, I’ve clearly listed both the old and new ex-showroom prices for each MG Comet variant—Executive, Excite, Exclusive, and Blackstorm. That makes it easy to spot the difference at a glance.
Now, here’s the thing: up until July 2025, there have been four price hikes across the board. First in January, then February, followed by May, and now again this month. Sometimes only a few select trims saw an increase, but I’m focusing on the major hikes that affected almost all variants.
If you look at the total hike so far, in just seven months, the MG Comet price has gone up by Rs 1,01,700. And to be clear, that figure isn’t tied to a specific trim—it’s the highest jump recorded on any of them. We’re not even counting every small tweak or region-specific change, just the big, confirmed ones. The carmaker has also added some meaningful feature upgrades to the Comet this year, which is an important part of the story when you consider these price changes.

The MG Comet BaaS price now starts at Rs 4.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 7.63 lakh. On top of that, the rental fee lands at Rs 3.1 per km. Now, let’s break down what’s actually changed. The Comet Excite, Excite FC, and Exclusive variants have all received a uniform price hike of Rs 15,000. Meanwhile, the Comet Exclusive FC and Blackstorm edition saw a slightly lower bump of Rs 13,700.
MG Comet EV battery specs
The MG Comet EV comes with a 17.3kWh battery pack and its electric motor delivers 42PS of power and 110Nm of torque, paired with an automatic gearbox. The MG Comet range is claimed to be around 230km on a full charge. With a 7.4KW charger, it takes about 3.5 hours to charge from 0 to 100%, and with a 3.3KW charger, the full charge takes around 7 hours.
