MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV launched at Rs 25.70 lakh — All details here

Alongside the electric Hector Tomahawk, MG has launched the Hector Tomahawk PHEV, a plug-in hybrid three-row SUV. It is priced from Rs 25.70 lakh (ex-showroom), while the BaaS option brings the starting price down to Rs 21.79 lakh, with a battery rental of Rs 3.2 per km. Like the EV, the PHEV is based on MG's ADAPT architecture.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV dimensions

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is the same size as the EV, measuring 4,745mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,770mm tall, with a 2,810mm wheelbase. Boot space stands at 192 litres with all three rows in use and increases to 528 litres with the third row folded.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV price and variants

The MG Tomahawk PHEV is available in two variants: Exclusive and Essence. The regular prices are Rs 25.70 lakh and Rs 27.80 lakh, respectively. Under the BaaS plan, they cost Rs 21.79 lakh and Rs 23.89 lakh, plus the battery rental. These are introductory prices.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV powertrain and range

The PHEV uses a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine that produces 101hp and 125Nm. It works with a 198hp electric motor producing 237Nm. The system uses MG's 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit and a dedicated hybrid transmission.

A 20.5kWh battery gives the SUV more than 115km of electric-only range. With the 52-litre fuel tank, MG claims a total range of more than 1,100km. The SUV can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 9 seconds. The battery can be charged from 10 to 100%  in around 7.5 hours using a 3.3kW AC charger. With a 25kW DC charger, a 30 to 80% charge takes around 35 minutes.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV drive modes

The Tomahawk PHEV gets six drive modes:

• Pure EV: Uses only the battery.
• Series Hybrid: The petrol engine works as a generator to power the electric motor.
• Parallel Hybrid - Boost: Uses both the engine and motor for stronger acceleration.
• Regeneration: Recovers energy while slowing down.
• Pure Engine: Uses the petrol engine to drive the wheels.
• Engine Drive + Charge: The engine drives the SUV while also charging the battery.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV features

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV cabin is similar to its electric counterpart. It gets a 15.6-inch touchscreen and an 8.8-inch multi-information display, along with MG's i-SMART system with more than 80 connected features.

Other features include GenAI voice assistance, karaoke, over 30 Hinglish voice commands, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an MG App Store, digital Bluetooth key, remote AC controls, OTA updates and smartwatch connectivity.

The PHEV also gets ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, a six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, 50W cooled wireless charging and AC vents for the second and third rows. It has a dual-pane cockpit sunroof and an 18-inch alloy wheel setup. It also gets V2H, V2L and V2V functions. However, the V2H setup requires a separately sold compatible unit, while V2L and V2V output is limited to 3kVA under specified conditions.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV safety features

Both variants get six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, four-wheel disc brakes, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors and a reverse camera.

The top-spec Essence also gets Level 2 ADAS, including adaptive cruise control, bend cruise assist, traffic-jam assist, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning and prevention, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian emergency braking, intelligent hydraulic braking assistance and intelligent headlamp control.
