Outline

Mini has launched the Countryman C in India at a starting price of Rs 47.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is assembled locally at BMW Group's Chennai plant, which helps reduce costs compared to fully imported models.

The Countryman C sits below the fully imported JCW All4 variant in the lineup and is priced Rs 18.65 lakh lower. This makes the Countryman range more accessible to buyers looking for a premium compact SUV while retaining Mini's premium positioning.

Mini Countryman C design and colour options

The Mini Countryman C gets a redesigned exterior with a more upright stance and rounded styling elements than the previous model. At the front, it features an octagonal grille with champagne-finished accents on the grille surround, skid plates, and Mini badging. Adaptive LED headlights are offered, while new matrix LED taillamps give the SUV a beautiful look at the rear.

Buyers can choose from different front and rear DRL light signatures for added personalisation. The SUV is available in five colours: Chilli Red, Smokey Green, British Racing Green, Nanuq White, and Slate Blue, with contrasting roof finishes available. The design is completed by 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Mini Countryman C space and practicality for genuine family usage

The new Mini Countryman C measures 4,447 mm in length, 1,843 mm in width, and 1,661 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,692 mm. It offers a 505-litre boot, which can be expanded to 1,450 litres by folding the rear seats. The rear seats can also slide and recline, allowing buyers to prioritise either passenger comfort or luggage space. The SUV has 190 mm of ground clearance, giving it enough capability for rough roads and occasional uneven surfaces while maintaining stable on-road handling.

Mini Countryman C interior and features

The 2026 Countryman C's cabin follows Mini's minimalist design approach with a dual-tone dashboard and signature circular styling elements. The main highlight is a 9.4-inch circular OLED touchscreen that combines infotainment, navigation, and climate controls into a single interface. The OLED display offers better colour reproduction and contrast than a conventional LCD screen.

Features include electrically adjustable JCW Sports seats finished in Vescin upholstery, a head-up display, steering-mounted controls, a Harman Kardon 12-speaker audio system, and a 360-degree camera. The SUV also gets a panoramic glass roof, wireless phone charging, and powered front seats.

Mini Countryman C engine specification and performance

The Countryman C is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 156bhp and 220Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 9.0 seconds and has a top speed of 212 kph. The turbocharged engine is designed to balance performance and fuel efficiency, making it suitable for both city driving and highway use. It also uses a familiar engine setup, which can help with serviceability and long-term ownership.

Local assembly strategy reducing purchase barriers

The Countryman C is assembled at BMW Group's Chennai plant, following the same approach used for the BMW X1. Both SUVs are based on the UKL2 platform, allowing BMW Group to share production resources and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Local assembly helps reduce import duties and transportation costs compared to fully imported models. This is one of the main reasons the Countryman C is significantly more affordable than the imported JCW All4. It also allows Mini to compete more directly with other locally assembled premium compact SUVs such as the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Audi Q3.
