Tata Motors January 2025 sales register 11% YoY decline

Tata Motors has released its January 2025 sales report, which reveals a 11% year-on-year (YoY) drop in sales compared to January 2024. Furthermore, the carmaker has registered a 25% drop in EV sales, amid rising competition from rivals. Read on to know more about the Tata Motors car sales in January 2025.
Tata cars January 2025 sales report
Tata Motors dispatched 48,076 units to its dealerships in the month of January 2025, which translates to a decline of 11% compared to January 2024, which accounted for 53,633 unit dispatches. It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned figures include both ICE and EV dispatches. Speaking of the EV segment alone, Tata Motors dispatched 5,240 EVs (domestic + exports) in January 2025, marking a decline of a whopping 25% compared to January 2024, which accounted for 6,979 unit dispatches.

As can be seen in the table above, a large chunk of slump in overall sales in January 2025 can be attributed to the sharp decline of EV sales. While the overall demand for EV models is on a decline, customer preferences may have also changed thanks to the new introduction of models like the MG Windsor EV and Hyundai Creta Electric. Furthermore, the EV segment is constantly evolving with new entrants marking their presence every passing month. Maruti Suzuki is also gearing up to launch its first-ever EV—the e Vitara—in the coming months.

Tata.EV has been the market leader in the EV segment in the Indian market but is now witnessing a constant downfall of market share, as models like the MG Windsor EV have picked up the customer interest.
