However, some cars outshine their competitors by a substantial margin and make it to the top of the sales chart. Here is a list of the top ten best selling cars in India over the last six months, including the latest data from July 2025.

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has climbed up to the first position in the list of best selling cars in India in July 2025, with a total of 20,895 units dispatched. The new Dzire shares its powertrains with the fourth generation Swift, and looks a lot more upmarket than its predecessor.

 

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai’s star performer, the Creta, has moved to the second position in July 2025. Selling a total of 16,898 units last month, this compact SUV comes with a variety of engine & transmission options — a 1.5-litre petrol with a 6-speed MT and a CVT, a 1.5-litre diesel with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT, and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT — and is generously loaded with features, which make it a great package.

Maruti Ertiga

The only MPV to make it to the list of top ten highest selling cars in India, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga garnered 16,604 units of sales last month, making it assume the third spot. The Ertiga comes with a 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine, generating 103PS and 137Nm of torque. There’s an option of a factory-fitted CNG kit too.

 

Maruti Wagon R

India’s best selling car, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, ranked just behind the Swift, selling a total of 12,930 units. Maruti is celebrating 25 years of sales of the Wagon R in India, making it one of the longest selling cars in India.

Selling 14,190 units last month, the Swift ranked at the fourth spot in this list. Maruti Suzuki gave the Swift a generational update last year, and the car now comes powered by a 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine, generating 82PS of power and 112Nm of torque.

 

Maruti Brezza

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza was the fifth best selling car in India in July 2025, gathering a total sales number of 14,065 units. The Brezza gets the same powertrain options as that of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and both cars are due to be updated soon.

Mahindra Scorpio

The Scorpio has been Mahindra’s best selling vehicle consistently over the past few months, selling 13,747 units in the last month itself. This includes the sales of both the Mahindra Scorpio Classic as well as the Mahindra Scorpio N. What’s interesting is the fact that Mahindra sells more diesel Scorpios than petrol ones. 

 

Maruti Fronx

The Maruti Fronx brought in 12,872 units of sales last month, making it assume the eighth spot. The Fronx gets five options for the powertrain — a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT, a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit paired to a 5-speed MT, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to either a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. 

 

Tata Nexon

The Nexon climbed its way up to the eighth spot, selling a total of 11,602 units last month. The Tata Nexon is available in a wide range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric powertrains, catering to diverse customer bases.

The Nexon was pushed to the ninth eighth spot, selling a total of 12,825 units last month. The Tata Nexon is available in a wide range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric powertrains, catering to diverse customer bases.
