Outline

Renault sells about 600-700 Kigers every month, which is less than half of what Nissan sells of the Magnite. Fundamentally, the two cars are identical, with the being the better-looking of the two. But the Magnite recently underwent a facelift that enhanced its appeal, both from the outside as well as the inside. Anyway, here are some key Renault Kiger pros and cons that you should consider before making a buying decision.

Top Renault Kiger pros

Appealing design

The Kiger is perhaps the best looking car in its segment, thanks to its French DNA. While the side profile is nearly identical to the Magnite’s, the Kiger gets a sleeker-looking front face, and a smooth-flowing rear face with C-shaped lights.

Multiple powertrain options

Renault offers two engine options on the Kiger — a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. Both these motors can be had with a manual or an automatic; AMT for the nat-asp and CVT for the turbo. The turbo-petrol CVT is our go-to powertrain for the Kiger. You can also get a dealer-fitted CNG kit that is approved by the carmaker.

Space and ground clearance

The car gets a spacious boot, and cabin space is also decent for a car of its size. It also has the best-in-segment ground clearance, which the company claims to be as high as 205mm. Overall, the Kiger scores well on the practicality quotient.

Missing features

The Kiger misses out on some key features that one expects in its segment such as 360-degree cameras, sunroof, six airbags, and more. Some of these features might be offered with the incoming Renault Kiger facelift 2025.

Poor NVH levels

The NVH levels of the Kiger-Magnite duo aren’t great. There’s a lot of road noise and external disturbances that get transferred to the cabin. Sound insulation should have been pushed a few notches up.

Lethargic engines

The Kiger does have multiple powertrain options, but none of those are exciting to drive and feel rather lethargic. The car is best suited for city driving and struggles when you try to push the throttle.
