Toyota revealed the Urban Cruiser EV concept at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025. The launch seemed almost certain. However, Toyota hadn’t taken any visible steps until now. The first teaser has finally arrived, giving us our first glimpse of this upcoming electric SUV.
This upcoming Toyota EV will be built on the Heartect-e skateboard platform. The same platform also underpins the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. This gives an early idea of its size, design, and how it might drive.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV to launch soon — What to expect?

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV design teased so far looks very close to the concept version shown at the 2025 expo. You can already spot the sharply positioned headlights with LED DRLs in a dot-like pattern, just like on the concept.
The front is also likely to carry the same closed-off grille, and the charging port remains on the left side, above the wheel arch. At the rear, the shark fin antenna is in place, and the dot-patterned LED taillights are expected to follow the concept’s design. It will likely feature 18-inch or 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels

The upcoming Urban Cruiser EV will measure 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.

In international markets, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV gets two battery options: a 49 kWh battery providing 144 PS and 189 Nm, and a 61 kWh battery that delivers up to 184 PS and 300 Nm. "It features standard front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive optional on the larger pack. The range can exceed 550 km.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV launch date

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV India launch is scheduled for 19th January 2026. Upon launch, it will rival models like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, and others.
