It’s almost shocking to realise that the country's latest carmaker—Maruti Suzuki—has only one SUV in its Arena range of dealerships that span across 3,000 touchpoints across the country. In a market where SUVs are thriving over every other segment, it’s high time for Maruti Suzuki to bring a new SUV for the masses. That’s what the upcoming Maruti Arena SUV is set to do—to capture the untapped set of buyers. In this article, we share everything we know about the upcoming Maruti Arena SUV along with its set of rumoured names.
What the upcoming Maruti Arena SUV could be called?
The upcoming Maruti Arena SUV is set to sit above the Maruti Brezza—Arena’s only SUV at this point—and below the Grand Vitara that is retailed through the Nexa range of dealerships. While being cost competitive, the upcoming Maruti Arena SUV is said to share a lot of similarities with the Grand Vitara. Coming to what it’s going to be named, there are two brand names in the contest — Escudo and Victoris. There could be a possibility that the SUV bears one name for the Indian market and the other for exports. We should get more clarity about the same closer to its launch on September 3, 2025.

Upcoming Maruti Arena SUV expected features
Since the market is catching on the bandwagon of advanced safety features, the largest carmaker—Maruti Suzuki—is set to join the party with the upcoming SUV. As per a new media report, the 2025 Maruti Escudo will offer Level-2 ADAS along with a myriad of other advanced safety features. These safety features could include six airbags, ESP, hill-hold assist, seatbelt reminders, height-adjustable seatbelts and a lot more.
In addition to the safety features, the 2025 Maruti Escudo is also likely to offer features that are not seen in the Arena range of cars before. Set to become the most technologically advanced offering from Arena, the Escudo is said to offer a powered tail gate and Dolby Atmos integration with the sound system. Needless to say, it will offer a long list of other features as well, which could include surround view camera, head-up display, front ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and more.

Upcoming Maruti Arena SUV powertrain details
Like the Brezza, the Maruti Arena SUV is likely to come with the same tried and tested 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers a slew of other Maruti cars. This engine puts out 103PS of power and 138Nm of torque and comes coupled with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Furthermore, the Maruti Escudo CNG is also likely on the cards, carrying the same powertrain available on the Brezza and Grand Vitara CNG. Reports also suggest that the upcoming Escudo SUV could also offer AWD automatic and strong hybrid powertrains in its higher variants for premium buyers.
