Renault India is on its plan of reigniting its product portfolio, with the introduction of two new SUVs. We have already seen glimpses of the Duster testing on our roads on several occasions. A new set of spy shots now reveal the Duster 7-seater being tested on our roads, wearing heavy camouflage. Read the story to know more about the upcoming Renault Duster 7-seater design, expected features, powertrain options and launch details.

Renault Duster 7-seater spotted

The Duster 7-seater, which is globally called the Boreal, has been spotted on Indian roads for the first time. Needless to say, it was spotted with heavy camouflage but we could still make out a few details. The rear profile of the 7-seater Duster features an extended overhang to accommodate third row seating. Staying true to its SUV genes, it features prominent body cladding, accentuated bumpers and an extended roof spoiler further enhancing its rear profile.

We expect the Duster 7-seater design to resemble the Dacia Bigster, which is already on sale in several European markets. It is worth mentioning that the Dacia Bigster is offered as a 5-seater SUV with a large boot space over the Duster, whereas in India, the larger boot space is likely to be used to accommodate third-row seating.

Renault Boreal India launch details

Renault India has confirmed its plans to launch two new SUVs in the Indian market. One of these two SUVs is said to be the 7-seater Duster—now officially called the Boreal. The Renault Boreal India launch is likely to take place in the latter half of the year 2026, after the launch of the Duster. It is likely to share its CMF-B platform with the Duster and the cousin Nissan SUVs. Once launched, the Boreal will rival other 7-seater SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. Two new rivals in the 7-seater space include the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV and its stablemate, the Toyota Urban Cruiser 7-seater SUV.

Renault Boreal powertrain details

We expect the Renault Boreal to share its powertrains with the Dacia Bigster, which is already on sale in several European markets. The Dacia Bigster gets three powertrain options — mild hybrid petrol, mild hybrid petrol 4x4 and a full hybrid. It remains to be seen what powertrains get offered in India-spec Boreal. In recent media interactions, Renault has shown its interest in bringing the hybrid powertrain to the Indian market, given the popularity of low-cost alternatives to petrol-powered SUVs.
