Volvo's biggest-ever product push — 7 cars for the West, 6 for China
- 1Volvo Cars will launch 13 new cars globally by the end of 2030
- 2Plan includes seven new cars for Western markets and six for China
- 3Volvo and Geely will develop cost-efficient cars specifically for the Chinese market
Volvo Cars has announced what it calls the largest product push in its 99-year history, with plans to launch 13 all-new cars by the end of 2030. The announcement was made during the company's Strategy Update for investors and media in Stockholm. Volvo also outlined how it plans to reshape its lineup in the second half of this decade.
Volvo's 2030 product plan — Regionalised approach

By 2030, Volvo plans to have a more regionalised lineup covering electrified vehicles, fully electric models and third-generation hybrids. Instead of following one global product plan, the company will develop cars based on the needs of different markets.
The plan includes seven new cars for Western markets and six for China. This reflects differences in EV adoption and customer preferences across these regions. Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars, said the company's showrooms will look very different by 2030. He described the plan as Volvo's strongest product pipeline yet, with products tailored to regional needs.
Why Volvo is focusing on regional products
Volvo wants to double its market share by expanding its presence in two areas: the growing fully electric vehicle segment and third-generation hybrids for customers who are not ready to switch to a fully electric car.'

The new product plan will also take Volvo into new segments across its three main regions: Europe, the US and China. The company says this will give the brand a wider range of products and mark a new phase in its design approach. Volvo expects the product push to support its wider goal of long-term growth and an EBIT margin of more than 8%.
Volvo's technology platform for Western markets
For cars developed for Western markets, Volvo will use its HuginCore computing platform, based on the SPA2 and SPA3 architectures. These software-defined and electrified vehicles are designed to use a more streamlined technology setup. Volvo says this approach will help reduce investment in technology and manufacturing compared with current levels, despite the scale of its 13-car product plan.
How Volvo's Geely partnership shapes its China strategy
For China, Volvo will work closely with its parent company Geely to develop new electrified cars specifically for the local market. The two companies plan to share platforms, a technology stack designed for China, parts and supply chains. Volvo says this approach will help it develop cars more efficiently and compete more directly with China's growing number of EV makers.
Volvo's new commercial model — Simplicity and transparency
Along with the new products, Volvo is introducing a commercial model based on simplicity, transparency and precision. The company wants to make the buying process easier through clearer pricing and simpler offers.

It also plans to offer fast-delivery versions for customers who do not want to wait months for their cars. Regular over-the-air software updates and an all-inclusive Care offer will also form part of the new approach.
Volvo Cars — Where things stand today
Founded in 1927, Volvo Cars sells vehicles in more than 100 countries and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm as “VOLCAR B”. The company aims to become fully electric and reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
In 2025, Volvo sold more than 710,000 cars, with electrified models making up 46% of sales. It had an average of 42,600 employees, with its main operations based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo has production plants in Sweden, Belgium, the US and China, along with R&D and design centres in Gothenburg and Shanghai. With 13 new cars planned by 2030, the company is focusing on regional products, closer cooperation with Geely and a simpler buying experience.
