Renault Kiger

The Renault Kiger is one of the carmaker’s three offerings in the Indian market. While it looks very similar to the Kwid, it stands taller thanks to a ground clearance of 205mm. The Kiger was also updated with a dealer-level CNG fitment recently, thereby further sweetening the deal. It is worth noting that the Kiger is yet to be updated with a facelift that the Magnite received recently.
Nissan Magnite

The Nissan Magnite shares its underpinnings with the Renault Kiger and that explains the same ground clearance of 205mm. The Nissan Magnite—unlike the Kiger—was recently updated with a facelift offering better design and more features. However, unlike its French sibling, the Magnite is yet to be offered with a CNG option of any kind.
Kia Sonet

The Kia Sonet is among the top of other sub-compact SUVs when it comes to the ground clearance. The Kia Sonet ground clearance stands at 205mm, making it supremely practical. However, a part of it shows a negative effect on its ride quality, which feels stiff in certain driving conditions. However, the Kia Sonet keeps its occupants happy with a premium cabin and a long features list.
MG Astor

While sitting in a segment above the Sonet, the MG Astor ground clearance also stands at 205mm. Furthermore, MG Astor also offers a slew of features including a chat bot, which has not received much praise from the market. As a whole, the Astor has not managed to find takers as much as MG Motor India might have expected from the SUV.
Tata Nexon

The Tata Nexon offers the highest ground clearance in the sub-compact SUV segment, except for the Mahindra Thar. The Tata Nexon ground clearance stands at 208mm that is the same as the Tata Curvv—its bigger sibling. In addition to the highest ground clearance, the Nexon also packs in features such as a panoramic sunroof, surround view camera, ventilated front seats and a lot more.

Tata Curvv

As we mentioned earlier, the Tata Curvv ground clearance stands at 208mm that is the same as the Tata Nexon. From the outside, not much is different between the Curvv and the Nexon in terms of design, save for the coupe roofline of the former, of course. However, the Tata Curvv adds other premium features over the Nexon such as Level-2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control and rear sunshades to name a few.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is in the list of compact SUVs offering highest ground clearance. The Maruti Grand Vitara ground clearance stands at 210mm that is the same as its Toyota sibling—the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It is interesting to note that the Grand Vitara/Urban Cruiser Hyryder is the SUV in this list other than the Mahindra Thar to offer AWD, thereby boosting its SUV credentials.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Like in the case of the Magnite and Kiger, the Grand Vitara and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder share common underpinnings. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder ground clearance also stands at 210mm and it’s also available with the option of an AWD.
Honda Elevate

The Honda Elevate offers a ground clearance of 220mm, which is highest among all the other C-segment SUVs in this list. The Elevate benefits from the strong and sorted underpinnings of the City sedan along with the smooth 1.5-litre petrol engine, thereby helping it in finding buyers.
Mahindra Thar

The Mahindra Thar topping this list is plain obvious, thanks to its rugged SUV credentials. The Mahindra Thar ground clearance stands at 226mm, which is more than enough for any kind of terrain you plan to throw in its way. The choice of rear-wheel-drive and manual as well as automatic transmission options further sweeten the overall deal.
