Tata Nexon

The Tata Nexon continues to hold on to the top spot, reinforcing its position as one of India’s most dependable volume drivers. The compact SUV registered 19,430 units in February 2026, pushing its six-month tally to 1,29,260 units.
A big reason behind the Nexon’s continued dominance is its versatility. Few models in this segment offer the same breadth of options, with buyers able to choose between petrol, diesel, CNG, and fully electric versions.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Sedans may not dominate the market the way they once did, but the Dzire continues to prove its relevance. With 19,326 units sold in February 2026, the model climbed to the second spot in the six-month tally with 1,19,938 units.
Part of the Dzire’s strength lies in the variety of roles it plays. It remains a staple in India’s fleet and ride-hailing market while still attracting private buyers who prefer a comfortable, fuel-efficient sedan over an SUV.
Tata Punch

The Tata Punch has quietly become one of the most important models in Tata’s lineup. The micro-SUV secured third place with 1,05,439 units sold over the last six months, including 18,748 units in February.
Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta continues to show why it has long been the benchmark in the compact SUV segment. With 1,03,599 units sold in the past six months, the model holds fourth place, including 17,938 units in February.
Maruti Suzuki Swift

Even as SUVs continue to dominate sales charts, the Swift remains one of the few hatchbacks that consistently stays in the mix. The model recorded 1,02,228 units over the past six months, although February sales dipped slightly to 14,833 units year-on-year.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

The only MPV to make it to this list is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which recorded sales of 14,868 units last month. It is powered by a 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine that produces 103PS and 137Nm of torque. The Ertiga is also available with a factory-fitted CNG option.
Mahindra Scorpio

Also making it to the list of best‑selling cars in India for September is the Mahindra Scorpio. The popular SUV is available in two versions — the rugged and timeless Scorpio Classic and the bold, feature-rich Scorpio N. Together, both models achieved combined sales of 13,618 units in February 2026.
The Scorpio Classic uses a 2.2‑litre mHawk diesel engine producing 132PS and 300Nm, while the Scorpio N offers a 2.0‑litre turbo‑petrol engine with 203 PS and 380 Nm or a 2.2‑litre diesel unit generating 175 PS and 400 Nm.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Another Maruti car to make its way to this list, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, brought in 15,480 units of sales for the Indo-Japanese carmaker. The Baleno is rebadged as the Glanza and sold by Toyota, becoming the latter’s third-best-selling car after the Innova and the Hyryder.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R drops to ninth place in the six-month rankings with 93,555 units sold. The hatchback posted 14,885 units in February 2026, though its year-on-year numbers saw a noticeable decline.
Even so, the Wagon R continues to appeal to a large section of buyers. Its tall-boy design creates a surprisingly spacious cabin, while petrol and CNG powertrain options help keep running costs low, qualities that still make it a dependable choice for daily city driving.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza

Rounding out the list in tenth position, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza recorded 89,245 units in total sales over the past six months. Interestingly, the compact SUV still managed a healthy 17,863 units in February 2026, suggesting that demand remains steady.
