Your First 30 Days, Worry-Free
Your First Month, Fully Protected
You drive home with the car. Two weeks later, something breaks. A repair bill arrives that makes you question whether you made the right decision.
Cars24's Welcome Cover is a 30-day repair assurance that covers both major mechanical systems and limited wear-and-tear components for 30 days or 1,500 km from purchase, whichever comes first. All repairs are carried out at Cars24-authorised workshops at no additional cost, no deductibles, no claim limits and absolutely no hidden charges.
Most used-car platforms walk away the moment you drive off. If something fails in the first month, you're on your own. Welcome Cover exists because the first 30 days are when hidden problems may potentially surface: the alternator that was borderline during inspection, the clutch plate showing wear, and the AC compressor that was on its last cycle. These aren't issues you caused. These are things that can manifest as the vehicle hits the road. Welcome Cover makes sure you're not the one paying to fix them.
What does Cars24's 30 Day Repair Assurance actually cover?
Welcome Cover protects you from two categories of failure: major mechanical breakdowns and abnormal wear in components that typically aren't covered by anyone else in the used-car industry.
Major Mechanical Systems
The engine is the most expensive component to repair. A crankshaft failure, cylinder head crack, or timing chain breakdown can produce a repair quote in the range of 50,000 to 1.5 lakh, depending on the car. Welcome Cover covers the engine's internal components: cylinder head, block, crankshaft, camshaft, connecting rods, pistons, oil pump, and timing chain or belt.
The transmission system, whether manual or automatic, is the second-highest repair cost after the engine. Gearbox failures, torque converter issues, clutch housing problems, and driveshaft damage are all covered under Welcome Cover. You're protected if these fail within the first 30 days.
The cooling and AC system keeps the car from overheating and makes Indian summers bearable. If the compressor, condenser, radiator, or thermostat fails in the first month, Welcome Cover handles it. The electrical system, alternator, starter motor, and ECU are covered. So is the fuel system, including the fuel pump and fuel gauge.
Wear-and-Tear Components (Industry First)
This is where Welcome Cover differs from every other used-car warranty in India. Most warranties explicitly exclude wear-and-tear parts. Welcome Cover includes them, with conditions tied to abnormal wear or malfunction, not normal ageing.
Brakes are covered for operational efficiency and safety issues with brake pads, discs, and the fluid system. If the brakes fail or show severe degradation beyond normal wear within 30 days, it's covered. The clutch plate, pressure plate, and release bearing are covered for abnormal wear or malfunction. Suspension components (shock absorbers, struts, lower arms, linkages) are covered for unusual noise or performance issues. Tyres are covered for structural defects and bulges, not tread wear from normal driving.
The distinction: Welcome Cover doesn't pay for brake pads that wore down from 10,000 km of city driving. It pays for brake pads that were already at 10% when you bought the car and failed in the first two weeks. That's the failure that shouldn't be on you.
How do I get a repair done under the 30 Day Repair Assurance?
The claim process has four steps. No paperwork, no forms to fill out, no emails back and forth.
Step 1: Report the Issue
Open the Cars24 app or call the helpline. Describe what's wrong. The system logs the complaint and assigns it to an inspection team.
Step 2: Vehicle Evaluation
A Cars24 technician inspects your car to diagnose the problem. This isn't a five-minute look. They run detailed diagnostics, check error codes if it's an electrical issue, and determine whether the failure is covered under the policy.
Step 3: Approval
If the failure is covered, the repair is approved based on the diagnosis report, and you get a confirmation. If it's not covered due to any reason, such as accidental damage or something you broke, the dedicated team tells you why and gives you a quote if you want to get it fixed anyway.
Step 4: Resolution
The car is taken to a Cars24-authorised workshop. The repair is done. You pick up the car. No bill handed to you at the end. The repair is on Cars24.
Is there a limit on how many repairs I can claim?
No. There's no cap on the number of claims or the total repair cost during the 30-day period. If three separate things fail within the first month, all three get fixed under Welcome Cover as long as they're covered components.
Most warranties have a claim limit or a deductible. You pay the first 2,000 or 5,000 rupees of every claim. Welcome Cover has neither. Every covered repair is fully on Cars24. You don't pay a rupee toward parts or labour for covered failures.
What is not covered under the 30 Day Repair Assurance?
The Welcome Cover doesn't cover everything. Here's what's excluded, stated clearly so there's no confusion later.
Routine maintenance items aren't covered. Engine oil, filters, brake fluid top-ups, bulbs, wiper blades, these are consumables you're expected to maintain as part of normal ownership. Welcome Cover is for failures, not upkeep.
Accidental damage and external impact are excluded. If you hit something, scrape a wall, or damage the car in a collision, Welcome Cover won't pay for it. The same goes for misuse or unauthorised modifications. If you installed an aftermarket turbo that blew the engine, that's on you.
Cosmetic damage, including scratches, dents, interior wear, and exterior paint issues, isn't covered. Welcome Cover is mechanical and electrical protection, not a cosmetic restoration program.
Can I get the car repaired at my own mechanic?
No. All repairs under Welcome Cover must be carried out at Cars24-authorised service centres. This isn't negotiable.
The reason: quality control. If you take the car to a random garage, Cars24 has no way to verify that genuine parts were used, that the diagnosis was correct, or that the repair was done properly. Authorised workshops use OEM or equivalent-quality parts, follow standardised repair procedures, and document everything. This protects both you and Cars24 from disputes about what was actually wrong and what was fixed.
What happens if I cross 1,500 km before 30 days?
Welcome Cover ends at whichever comes first: 30 days from purchase or 1,500 km on the odometer. If you hit 1,500 km in 20 days, the coverage stops at 1,500 km. If you've only driven 800 km by day 30, coverage stops at day 30.
This dual limit exists because high-mileage usage in the first month increases wear beyond what Welcome Cover is designed to absorb. The 1,500 km threshold is roughly 50 km per day for a month, enough for normal commuting and initial long drives, but not enough to rack up extreme usage that would make the policy unsustainable.
Can I extend the 30 Day Repair Assurance beyond the first 30 days?
No. Welcome Cover is a fixed 30-day or 1,500 km assurance. It can't be extended or renewed. For longer coverage, explore the Lifetime Warranty Plan offering protection for up to 12 years or 1,50,000 km (whichever is earlier).
