30 Days to Decide Your Ride

Buying a used car involves a leap of faith. You do your research, you check the photos, you read the inspection report and yet you still wonder: what if it just doesn’t feel right once I’m driving it every day?

The Cars24 30-Day Return Policy gives you 30 calendar days from the date of delivery to decide if the car is truly right for you. You can drive it and test it the way you want for up to 999 km. If it doesn’t suit your lifestyle for any reason, you can return it. Refunds are processed within 3 to 4 working days for outright purchases, subject to the conditions and deductions listed below.

Most platforms stop at making you confident before you buy. Cars24 makes sure that confidence goes a long way. Because a used car purchase deserves more than just a pre-sale assurance.

The Cars24 30-Day Return Policy allows you to return a used car within 30 calendar days of delivery, provided the car has been driven less than 999 km and is in the same condition as it was at the time of delivery. The policy is available to the original purchaser only. If you decide to return, a refund is issued after a re-inspection, subject to clearly specified deductions.

This is not a guarantee that there will be no deductions. It is a guarantee that the terms are transparent, the process is structured, and you won’t be left chasing a refund with no clarity on what happens next.

The return process has four steps, each with a defined timeline and owner. No ambiguity, no surprises.

Step 1: Raise a return request

Submit your return request through the Cars24 app or by emailing support@cariotauto.com within 30 days of your delivery date. The request must come from the original purchaser of the vehicle. Once submitted, the Cars24 support team will contact you to understand your reason for return and schedule the next steps.

Step 2: Re-inspection

Cars24 conducts a re-inspection of the vehicle to verify its condition against the original delivery checklist. A detailed summary of the inspection findings is shared with you. Any difference in the condition from that during delivery, such as damage, missing accessories, or additional kilometres, will be noted and may affect the refund calculation.

Step 3: Drop off the vehicle

Once the re-inspection is complete and your return request is verified, drop the car at your nearest Cars24 Hub. All original accessories, documents, and keys must be returned at this point.

Step 4: Refund

For outright purchases, refunds are processed within 3 to 4 working days of the car being dropped off. If the car was bought on finance, loan cancellation with the lender can take up to 15 days, and the full refund process may take 25 to 30 business days. You receive updates at each stage.

The return is valid if all of the following conditions are met:

• Return is initiated within 30 calendar days of the delivery date
• The car has been driven 999 km or less from the odometer reading at delivery
• The vehicle is in the same condition as it was at delivery, with no damage, accident, or modification post-delivery
• All original accessories, documents, and keys are returned
• The return is initiated by the original purchaser only

During the re-inspection, any deviation from the original delivery condition will be recorded. The refund amount is adjusted proportionally for missing accessories or condition changes, as assessed by the Cars24 technical team.

Deductions as applicable to the 30-day return policy depend on two factors: whether the RC transfer has been completed, and how far into the 30-day window you are. These are clearly stated in the policy, so you know the refund breakdown before you initiate a return.

In addition to RC-related deductions, a minimum deduction of Rs 10,000 per car applies. If any accessory is missing or the vehicle condition has changed at the time of return, a proportional deduction is calculated by the Cars24 technical team and communicated to you before the refund is processed.

For outright purchases, the refund is processed within 3 to 4 working days of the car being dropped off at a Cars24 Hub, once verification is complete. Payment is returned to your original payment method if you paid online.

If the car was purchased on loan, loan cancellation with the lender takes up to 15 days. The complete refund process for a financed vehicle can take 25 to 30 business days. Cars24 provides updates at each step so you know where the process stands.

For most buyers, the 30-day window is reassurance rather than something they’ll use. But the fact that it exists greatly changes the nature of the purchase. You’re not locked in from the moment you sign. You have time to drive the car through your actual commute, your actual parking situation, your actual life, and decide from experience rather than expectation.

The conditions are real, and the deductions are clearly defined. This isn’t a no-questions-asked free return. But it is a structured, transparent process at a time in India’s used car market when most buyers have no recourse at all after driving off the lot.
