Tata Tiago EV Adult Occupant Protection Rating

The Tata Tiago EV has been rated by the Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) for both, adult occupant protection and child occupant protection. In the adult occupant protection category, the Tiago EV has earned a 4-star rating and scored an 16.4 out of 17 points in its frontal-offset crash test, which is impressive compared to other cars in its segment.

The testing body observed that the protection provided to the driver's head was assessed as good, while the passenger's head received an adequate rating. However, the knees of both the driver and the passenger were marginally protected, as they had the potential to come into contact with hazardous structures positioned behind the dashboard, supported by the Tranfascia tube.

In contrast, the tibias of both the driver and the passenger showed adequate and good protection, respectively. Unfortunately, the assessment indicated that the car's body shell was deemed unstable and incapable of withstanding further loads. Furthermore, the footwell area was also rated as unstable.

Notably, the car is equipped with standard SBR (Seat Belt Reminder) systems for both the driver and passenger. The collective assessment of these factors accounts for the four-star rating achieved for adult occupant protection.

Tata Tiago EV Child Occupant Protection Rating

In the test for child occupants’ safety, the Tiago EV scored 42 out of 49 points. The testing body noted that the child seats used for the 3-year-old and 1.5-year-old were rearward-facing (RWF) and secured with the adult seatbelt, effectively mitigating excessive forward movement during the impact. Notably, both chest and head protection for the children were assessed as good.

The Child Restraint Systems (CRS) markings were found to be permanent, and the recommended CRSs demonstrated compatibility with the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle provides a lap belt in the rear centre position, although it does not offer ISOFIX anchorages.

Collectively, these factors account for the car's achievement of a four-star rating for child occupant protection.

The Tata Tiago EV underwent the Safety Assist Test, which assesses the vehicle's safety features designed to prevent accidents and reduce crash-related injuries. Conducted by the Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme), this evaluation encompasses various crash scenarios, including frontal impact, side impact, and rollover.

The Tata Tiago EV performed admirably in the Safety Assist Test, achieving a commendable score of 13.1 out of 18 points. This score reflects the presence of multiple safety features aimed at enhancing driver and passenger protection in the event of a collision.
