Audi RS e-tron GT - An Electric Flagship
When the Audi RS e-tron GT came into India, it instantly established itself as being more than just another luxury EV. It became the halo product for Audi's electric portfolio, a car that proved that performance, technology, and sustainability could go together without compromising any of the three.
At its core, the Audi RS e-tron GT is designed as a driver's grand tourer. The battery is mounted low in the chassis, which gives it an extremely low centre of gravity. The result is a car that feels planted and composed at speed, even though it weighs significantly more than the traditional petrol performance saloons. The two-speed transmission on the rear axle further separates it from most EVs, allowing brutal off-the-line acceleration in first gear and relaxed high-speed cruising in second.
In India, where most luxury EVs are focused on rear seat comfort, the Audi RS e-tron GT is clearly driver-centric. Adaptive air suspension raises the car when required. In addition, Dynamic mode releases full boost mode to sharpen responses. It appeals to buyers who want silent power with serious intent.
The Audi RS e-tron GT price in India reflects its flagship positioning as well as CBU import status. It is offered in one fully-loaded variant. On-road Pricing is around ₹2.05 Crore to ₹2.24 Crore, depending upon the city.
| Variant | Battery / Range / Output | Ex-Showroom Price |
| RS e-tron GT Quattro | 93 kWh, 401–481 km, 636.98 bhp, 830 Nm | ₹1.95 Cr |
The Audi RS e-tron GT is powered by two permanent magnet synchronous motors to form an electric Quattro all-wheel drive system. It generates 598 bhp, and boost mode pushes those numbers to 637 bhp, along with 830 Nm of torque. With the Launch Control in operation, 0-100 km/h is dispatched in 3.3 seconds, with the top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h.
Acceleration has no delay and feels relentless. There is no pause as the gearshifts, no turbo lag, just a seamless, smooth surge that pushes you back into the seat. The optional e-sound plus system adds a synthetic futuristic soundtrack that is adjustable using drive modes.
In the Indian conditions, the adaptive air suspension is critical. It can lift the car to 40mm, aiding in clearing taller speed breakers. Through corners, the low-mounted battery keeps body roll to a minimum while tungsten carbide-coated brakes provide strong and consistent stopping power. This arrangement is appropriate for drivers who desire supercar performance in a usable four-door package.
In India, the Audi RS e-tron GT is available in one fully equipped flagship variant.
RS e-tron GT Quattro
This variant comes with adaptive air suspension, tungsten carbide-coated brakes, Matrix LED headlights with Audi Laser Light, 20-inch aero wheels, and a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system. The performance is fixed at 637 bhp in boost mode along with a 93.4 kWh battery. Buyers do not make a choice between trims but personalise with colour and optional packages such as carbon fibre elements.
Since it is fully electric, “mileage” refers to range per charge.
Officially, the Audi RS e-tron GT delivers:
- ARAI certified range: 481 km
- WLTP range: up to 500 km
In real-world Indian driving, expect:
- Mixed usage: 330–370 km
- Spirited driving: 300 km
Its 93.4 kWh battery provides 270 kW dc fast charging that allows a 5-80% charge in about 22.5 minutes. Home charging through 11kW AC takes about 9.5 hours. At average electricity rates, the running cost works out to be about ₹2.11 per km, which is much lower than similar petrol sedans.
The Audi RS e-tron GT is one of the most aerodynamic cars on sale in India with a drag coefficient of just 0.24. Its stance is low, wide, and unmistakably aggressive. Underlining its performance intent are the 3D honeycomb grille, sculpted "Quattro" wheel arches, and 20-inch aero wheels. Matrix LED Headlights feature Laser Light Dynamic animations while a continuous LED rear light strip stretches across the width with unique arrowhead signatures.
Active aerodynamics include controllable cooling inlets and a rear integrated spoiler, which deploys at speed to increase downforce. Many Indian units are seen with the carbon fibre roof package, which reduces the centre of gravity and adds visual drama. Despite being a four-door, it has proportions closer to a grand tourer than a traditional sedan.
Inside, the Audi RS e-tron GT brings digital sophistication with physical usability. The 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit Plus is highly configurable, and the 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen takes care of infotainment duty. Importantly, physical climate controls are still present, which reduce distraction while driving.
Materials include pearl Nappa leather, Dinamica microfiber, and carbon twill inlays. RS badges, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and contrast stitching add visual drama. Front seats are power adjustable and heated with optional massage and ventilation functions. Rear space can be used for short journeys, although the sloping roof line limits headroom slightly. Boot space is 405 litres with an additional 85 litres frunk that adds practical everyday usability.
The Audi RS e-tron GT has a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and is fitted with 8 airbags, including knee airbags. The high-voltage battery is contained in a reinforced aluminium frame that automatically switches off power in severe collisions.
Active systems include Audi Pre-Sense with emergency braking, lane departure warning, 360-degree camera with park assist plus, and remote park assist. An acoustic vehicle alerting system is used to ensure that pedestrians can detect the car at low speeds. Electronic stability control, Porsche-inspired chassis stability tuning, and tungsten carbide coating brakes provide constant stopping power, while TPMS ensures that the tyre health is constantly monitored.
In India, the Audi RS e-tron GT sits in a "driver-first" niche within the luxury EV segment. While many competitors focus on rear seat comfort, this car focuses on low-slung dynamics and performance credibility.
Porsche Taycan Turbo
Sharing the same J1 platform, the Taycan Turbo is the more track-oriented choice. It offers a higher level of customisation and sits at a higher price, while the Audi RS e-tron GT is more approachable and cohesive as a grand tourer.
Mercedes-AMG EQS 53
The AMG EQS 53 provides more power and a longer range but is softer and more comfortable. The Audi RS e-tron GT is sharper in handling and more fun through corners.
BMW i7 M70
Larger and more luxurious, the i7 M70 is focused on rear-seat luxury and tech theatrics. It appeals to chauffeur-driven buyers, while the Audi RS e-tron GT is clearly made for those who prefer driving themselves.
The Audi RS e-tron GT brings extreme performance and day-to-day usability, but ownership in India comes with certain realities.
| Pros | Cons |
| Delivers supercar-like acceleration at 637 bhp and electric torque that is smooth and relentless, and feels immediate. | Low ground clearance and a long wheelbase can mean that speed breakers become an issue of concern despite adaptive lift. |
| Adaptive Air suspension is good at balancing comfort and performance, making it usable for Indian roads. | Real-world range of around 350km means you have to plan well to make longer highway trips. |
800V architecture supports the ultra-fast charge stations where it is applicable.
| Fast charging infrastructure is still limited outside the major metro cities in India. |
| Striking design and flagship status give exclusivity to the luxury EV segment. | Rear headroom is a bit cramped for people who are tall because of the inclining roofline. |
The Audi RS e-tron GT is not just about going electric: it's about going electric without giving up performance character. It offers acceleration to rival petrol super-sedans, a planted chassis to reward enthusiastic driving, and enough practicality to be used on a daily basis. Adaptive suspension and four-door usability make it more versatile than traditional sports cars.
However, it requires thoughtful ownership. Real-world range, charging infrastructure, and low ground clearance are the factors that need to be considered carefully in Indian conditions. If your driving pattern is confined to 300-350 km cycles and you are more interested in design, speed, and technological sophistication, the Audi RS e-tron GT is one of the finest electric performance cars available in India today.
