Right from day one, the MG Gloster turned heads with its exterior styling and massive road presence. However, it's worth noting that while the seat cushioning provides adequate support, some may find it slightly firm, and the lumbar support might be excessive for some.

While the 2.0-litre turbo delivers a peak power and torque output of 159 bhp and 373.5 Nm respectively, it is the Bi-turbo that boasts even better performance with claimed power and torque figures of 212 bhp and 478.5 Nm respectively. While both engines are offered only with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the bi-turbo motor is exclusively offered with a 4WD setup with Terrain Selection. Despite excellent power output, the bi-turbo unit suffers from noticeable turbo lag and lacks the performance one would expect from an SUV of this size. Things do improve once you start moving and brisk overtakes are performed effortlessly, all thanks to its tried-and-tested 8-speed auto gearbox. 

Just like any body-on-frame SUV, the Gloster pitches and bobs around over undulations and speed bumps, but the suspension offers a well-damped ride over uneven surfaces. The handling is good for such a tall and heavy SUV while the steering is light and communicative.  

The new MG Gloster is offered with an elaborate setup when it comes to safety with ADAS taking centre stage. Additionally, the SUV is offered with features like rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and prevention, door open warning, and many other standard safety features like front, side and curtain airbags, stability control, traction control, hill descent control and a 360-degree camera.
