Out of Toyota’s five top selling cars in India over the past six months, three are built-Toyotas, two are badge-engineered Maruti Suzukis, and one has been jointly developed by the two OEMs. Doesn’t add up? Toyota Innova

The Innova was Toyota’s most selling brand over the past six months, selling a total of 52,807 cars. To clear the confusion, this includes the sale of both Toyota Innova Crysta and Toyota Innova Hycross. The Innova Hycross is essentially the next generation of the Innova Crysta, with both models being sold alongside each other.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has been jointly developed by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. Toyota sold 38,091 units of the Hyryder over the last six months, averaging at around 6,300 units monthly. For reference, its sister car, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, garnered 46,639 units of sales over the same period.
Toyota Glanza

Toyota Glanza, Toyota’s rebadged version of the hot-selling Maruti Suzuki Baleno, gathered 24,939 units of sales for the Japanese carmaker. During the same period, MSIL sold a staggering 74,104 Balenos, which is almost three times of what Toyota did!
Toyota Fortuner

There’s no way around a Toyota Fortuner. Claiming the fourth spot on the list of top selling Toyota cars in India, the Fortuner gathered 17,719 units of sales for the company. This is despite the popular Toyota SUV being outrageously priced. The Fortuner starts at Rs 36.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). But be careful, this might change the next time you visit this page.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor

Toyota Taisor, a.k.a. Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, a.k.a. rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx, garnered 16,623 units of sales, pushing it to the fifth spot on this list. This translates to an average of about 2,800 units a month.
