Outline

JLR has started local assembly of the Defender 110 in India, reducing prices by up to Rs 34 lakh. The SUVs are now assembled at JLR's Pune facility using completely knocked-down kits, which helps lower import duties and reduce costs compared to fully imported models.

The Defender 110 is available with three engine options: a 2.0-litre petrol engine, a 3.0-litre petrol engine and a 3.0-litre diesel engine. Apart from the price reduction, there are no other changes to the model.

Why the Defender 110 price has dropped

The Defender was JLR India's best-selling model in FY2026. The Defender, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport together accounted for over 80% of the company's sales. JLR has sold around 9,000 Defenders in India in the past three and a half years.

JLR expects local assembly to increase Defender sales by up to 20%. India is the first market outside Europe to assemble the SUV locally. JLR already assembles select versions of the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, Evoque and Discovery Sport in India. The Defender 90, Defender 130 and Defender Octa will continue to be imported from Slovakia.
