Outline

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has confirmed a recall of three petrol-powered Mercedes-Benz models in India: the AMG C-Class (206087), AMG GLC (254387), and GLC (254605). The issue? A potential risk of losing steerability while driving — a serious concern, even though only four units are affected.

This isn’t a wide-scale recall, but it matters. All affected vehicles fall within very specific production batches, so if you own one of these models, especially in petrol, it’s worth checking your VIN or contacting your dealer directly.

Mercedes AMG C Class

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the Mercedes-Benz GLC, AMG C-Class, and AMG GLC models may have an issue with the steering coupling bolts. These bolts might not meet the required specifications, which means the connection between the steering wheel and steering rack could loosen over time. If that happens, the driver risks losing control of the steering, which is obviously a serious safety concern. This is why the recall was necessary—to fix the problem before it leads to any accidents.

Affected Mercedes-Benz GLC and AMG units manufactured during these dates

The affected units include the Mercedes-Benz AMG C-Class (206087) manufactured on September 20, 2023. The AMG GLC (254387) models built between July 17, 2024, and January 31, 2025, are also impacted. Additionally, the Mercedes-Benz GLC (254605) produced on September 19, 2022, is part of the recall. If your vehicle matches any of these dates, it’s important to get it inspected without delay.
