Outline

Mini India officially opened pre-bookings for the Countryman C. It will roll out of BMW Group's Chennai manufacturing plant as a CKD or completely knocked-down unit. This means the car arrives in parts from overseas and is assembled locally in India. That single decision changes the pricing math significantly.

This is not the first time Mini has done this in India. The first locally assembled generation of the Countryman commenced in May 2013 and the second in May 2018. The third-generation Countryman was launched in India as an EV in July 2024 followed by the JCW All4 petrol in October 2025 both as full CBU imports. The Countryman C is the missing middle ground that India's premium compact SUV buyer has been waiting for. Bookings are open at all Mini India dealerships right now. A launch is expected in the second half of 2026.

Upcoming Mini Countryman C exterior design

Mini Countryman

The Countryman C follows the third-generation design of the Countryman, which looks cleaner and more mature than before. It keeps Mini’s signature rounded shape but with smoother body lines. It also gets a matte champagne finish on the grille, C-pillar, skid plates, and even the Mini logo and Countryman badge.

The India-spec model gets 19-inch alloy wheels similar to the Countryman Electric, also finished in champagne. This gives it a more modern and clean look rather than a sporty one.

At the rear, it features matrix LED tail-lamps with a customisable light pattern when locking or unlocking. The SUV also looks bigger than before, with a taller and wider stance, short overhangs, and a strong shoulder line. Flush door handles add to the cleaner design.

2026 Mini Countryman C dimensions & colour options

The third-generation Countryman will be significantly larger than its predecessor. It will measure around 4,433 mm in length with a wheelbase of approximately 2,670 mm, giving it a more spacious footprint for a premium compact SUV. It will be offered in colours like Smokey Green, British Racing Green, Nanuq White, Slate Blue, and Chilli Red.

2026 Mini Countryman C interior features

Inside the Countryman C, the highlight is the 9.4-inch circular OLED display with MINI Operating System 9. It is a true round screen, not a fitted rectangle, and controls infotainment and vehicle functions through touch and voice. It also gets a head-up display that shows key driving information in the driver’s line of sight. A unique Fisheye Camera allows users to capture photos and videos inside the cabin and share them via QR code.

The cabin is leather-free and uses Vescin, a recycled material that feels premium and leather-like. The rear seats slide and recline, offering flexible space, with around 450 litres of boot capacity that expands further in a 40:20:40 split. Interior features also include a Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a powered tailgate. It also gets MINI Digital Key Plus, which allows smartphone-based access and sharing.

Other connected features include emergency call, collision alert, remote services, navigation, weather updates, and over-the-air software updates through MINI Operating System 9.

Upcoming Mini Countryman C safety features

On safety, the Countryman C comes with a 360-degree Parking Assistant Plus system that gives a bird’s-eye view for easier city parking. It also includes multiple airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX mounts, hill hold assist, and front and rear parking sensors. The SUV carries a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating from the third-generation Countryman.

Mini Countryman C engine specs

The Mini Countryman C uses a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with 170 hp and 280 Nm torque. It comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 48V mild-hybrid system, giving a claimed mileage of about 15.4 kmpl. The new four-cylinder engine is smoother and more refined than the older three-cylinder. It also offers better low-end torque.

The mild-hybrid system helps during acceleration, improves fuel efficiency, and supports start-stop use but does not offer electric-only driving. The SUV uses a 7-speed DCT with paddle shifters and comes in a front-wheel drive layout. It is built on BMW’s UKL2 platform, shared with the BMW X1, which also allows local production in India.

2026 Mini Countryman C price & rivals

Price is the most important part of the Countryman C story for India. The Countryman C is expected to be priced between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom) in CKD form. This is significantly lower than the JCW All4, which costs Rs 64.9 lakh, and closer to the BMW X1 at around Rs 50.9 lakh. This makes it nearly Rs 10 lakh more affordable than the JCW.

The previous-generation Countryman was priced around Rs 48 lakh in 2024. The expected price increase is due to higher costs, a weaker rupee, a larger engine, and added features. At around Rs 55 lakh, the Countryman C will compete with the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Audi Q3.
