Renault Triber new vs old — Key differences and similarities
- 1Facelifted model becomes the first car to feature the new Renault logo
- 2Gets four new colours, with a total of nine monotone and dual-tone options
- 3Gets the same powertrain choices as the pre-facelift model
Six years after introducing the Renault Triber to India, the French carmaker has given the car its first facelift. As is the case with typical facelifts, it gets exterior and interior tweaks, some feature additions, and unchanged powertrain options. Here’s a story comparing the Renault Triber new vs old, explaining key differences and similarities.
Exterior
The front face of the MPV features the most noticeable changes, with a new multi-slat grille, a redesigned bumper and air intakes, new design for the headlights, a scoop on the bonnet, and Renault’s new logo. At the side, you get to see a new design for the wheel covers and new graphics on the side plates. There’s a new bumper at the rear too, along with redesigned tail lights, Renault’s new logo, and a gloss black element connecting the lights. The Triber badging has been moved further down the boot lid.
Interior

The dashboard layout is more or less identical, barring the placement for the infotainment screen. The start/stop button has been moved a little left, and there’s a new steering wheel, too. Colours on the interior are a mix of black and grey-beige. A neat touch that the pre-facelift model had was removable third row seats, and the same has been retained in the facelifted version.

Features
Key Renault Triber features that have been added to the facelifted car include TPMS, driver’s armrest, six airbags as standard, front parking sensors, wireless smartphone charger, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, and more. Other features that have been carried over from the outgoing model include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cooled glovebox and centre console, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear wiper, washer, and defogger, and more.
Powertrain

Powertrain options remain indifferent, which include a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that can be paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Claimed maximum power and torque output figures stand at 72PS and 96Nm respectively. There’s also the option of a dealer-level retrofitted CNG kit approved by the manufacturer, the prices for which are yet to be disclosed. Renault is still not offering a turbo-petrol option, which has been long-long awaited now.

The facelift comes in a choice of six colours — Amber Terracotta, Shadow Grey, Ice Cool White, Zanskar Blue, Moonlight Silver and Stealth Black — with the first three getting the option of a black roof.
