Outline

The Tata Sierra has had a strong first year since its ICE debut, clocking over 37,000 cumulative units at an average of around 7,400 per month in 2026. Now, the SUV is about to get a sibling that many buyers have been waiting for.

Tata Motors has officially confirmed that the Tata Sierra EV will make its debut on June 30, 2026, adding what could be one of the year's most awaited electric vehicles to its growing lineup. The Sierra EV will be the seventh model to join the company's electric portfolio, sitting between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV.

2026 Tata Sierra EV design

Tata Sierra EV

The Tata Sierra EV is not simply an electrified version of the ICE Sierra. While it carries the same core design DNA, including the iconic wraparound rear-side glass area, upright stance and boxy proportions that define the Sierra name, the electric version introduces its own distinct identity.

Spy shots of the upcoming Sierra EV in testing revealed a blanked-off front grille with a sealed fascia, revised bumper, connected LED lighting elements and flush-fitting door handles. The alloy wheel design may differ from the ICE version for added distinction, and .ev badging is expected across the car, consistent with Tata's EV branding strategy.

Upcoming Tata Sierra EV interior — Triple screens, ventilated seats and V2L

Autocar India's earlier report confirmed that the top-spec Sierra EV is expected to offer a triple-screen dashboard layout, comprising a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger screen. Lower variants are expected to get a dual-screen setup along with a head-up display (HUD).

Other likely features include ventilated and powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a premium audio system, Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology and multiple drive modes. Tata is also expected to offer V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) capabilities, which are becoming part of the standard toolkit in its newer EVs. EV-specific software graphics and animations will differentiate the cabin experience from the ICE Sierra.

Upcoming Tata Sierra EV battery packs, range and charging

The new Sierra EV is expected to be built on Tata's Acti.ev+ architecture, the same platform that underpins the Harrier EV. Battery pack options are expected to mirror those of the Harrier EV, with a 65 kWh and a 75 kWh unit likely on offer. The smaller pack is expected to deliver a claimed range in the 450 km region while the larger pack should push beyond 500 km on a single charge. DC fast charging support of up to 120 kW is anticipated, which means a reasonable top-up time during long journeys. AC home charging will also be supported.

Tata Sierra EV RWD and AWD options

One of the most talked-about aspects of Tata Sierra EV is the confirmation of both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants. Tata's chief commercial officer Vivek Srivastava had previously confirmed this to Autocar India, adding that the AWD version will likely be paired only with the larger 75 kWh battery. The dual-motor AWD setup should also improve performance figures compared to the single-motor RWD variants.

Tata Sierra EV safety features

While a formal Bharat NCAP test result is not yet available for the Tata Sierra EV, the Acti.ev+ platform is already proven under the Harrier EV. The Sierra EV is expected to offer six airbags as standard across most variants, along with ADAS functions including automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control. ESP, hill descent control and traction management systems are also expected to be part of the package.

Tata Sierra EV expected price and booking details

The upcoming Sierra EV is expected to be priced between approximately Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will slot above the Curvv EV, which ranges from Rs 16.99 lakh to Rs 19.19 lakh, and below the Harrier EV that starts at Rs 21.49 lakh. Booking and delivery details are likely to be announced at or after the June 30 debut event.

Tata Sierra EV rivals

The upcoming Sierra EV will compete in one of the most hotly contested spaces in the Indian EV market. Its primary rivals include the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti eVitara and the MG ZS EV. The AWD option will particularly help it compete against the Mahindra BE 6 and Creta Electric, both of which have set strong benchmarks in the segment. Tata's established EV service network and brand familiarity should also work in the Sierra EV's favour.
