Upcoming Maruti Escudo price to start from Rs 10 lakh? — All that we know so far!

It’s no secret that Maruti Suzuki has been planning a new SUV that is set to soon be launched in the Indian market. While there are still a lot of speculations around the same, we have some confirmed details about the model. Here’s all that we know about the upcoming Maruti Escudo.

To be sold through Maruti Arena dealerships

The Escudo will be sold though Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealerships, and will be positioned between the Maruti Brezza and the Maruti Grand Vitara. With the former wearing a starting price tag of Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and the latter of Rs 11.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it makes sense to expect the upcoming SUV to be priced starting in the neighbourhood of Rs 10 lakh. 

Not to be called the Maruti Victoris

Our trusted sources confirm that the Arena SUV will be called the Escudo and not the Victoris, contrary to what is cited in multiple media reports. The ‘Virtoris’ moniker might be used for the export-spec model, or might rather be a candidate for another product.

To get a hybrid powertrain

The Escudo is confirmed to get a hybrid powertrain option in addition to a standard petrol engine, though the specs of the same remain under the wraps as of now. We also expect the SUV to be offered with the option of factory-fitted CNG kits. A report by Moneycontrol suggests that the Escudo will be the first car from the house of Maruti Suzuki to get an underbody CNG tank, in a move to free up boot space.

Expected Maruti Escudo features

Arriving in a highly-competitive segment that plays host to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and other feature-packed SUVs, the Maruti Suzuki Escudo is also expected to come packed with features like a panoramic sunroof, Dolby Atmos integrated sound system, powered tailgate, ventilated seats, and more.

2025 Maruti Escudo launch date

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that it will be launching a new SUV in India on September 3, 2025, which is highly likely to be the Maruti Suzuki Escudo. The Maruti e Vitara India launch is also long due now, which should take place in the coming months.
