Back in 2018, Hyundai unveiled the Ioniq electric and hybrid models which took the world by storm. Later, Hyundai also showcased a plug-in hybrid variant which will most likely not make its appearance in India. As of the latest news, only the electric variant will be brought to India and will be one of the best options in the segment. Hyundai has fitted a decent 28kWh Lithium-Ion battery into the Ioniq which is expected to charge from 0-100 percent in about 9-10 hours. However, Hyundai will also include a quick charge option that will significantly reduce the charge time to about 4-5 hours. When the Ioniq’s battery is completely charged, it is expected to have a maximum range of 280 Kms which is rather impressive. In terms of design, the Ioniq electric car will come with a hexagonal grille that will give it a sleek, sharp look. The LED headlamps and LED DRLs will keep the Ioniq updated. The use of aluminum in the boot lid will make the Ioniq up to 25 percent lighter than some of the other Hyundai cars available today. In the features department, the Ioniq will come with a 7-inch instrument cluster as well as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Safety will be a major attraction for the Ioniq with 7 airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking, lane change assist, and blind spot detection.

The upcoming Elantra 2021 is probably one of Hyundai’s most exciting cars in terms of design and performance alike. The sedan is based on the Le Fil Rouge concept which was first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2018 and in 2020 at the Auto Expo. There is a distinct difference to the look of the new Elantra as the front grille now has a cascading effect while the Hyundai insignia now takes its place on the bonnet rather than the grille. The roofline now slopes like on a coupe and the sharp lines on the side give the sedan a beautifully aggressive look. Completing the look, the rear of the sedan also features sleek and stylish taillights with an LED strip stretching across the entire rear. Hyundai has not skimped out on the features as well with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, BOSE audio system, wireless charging, voice commands, and NFC-enabled digital car keys. Safety is also a very important part of the upcoming Elantra as it includes collision assist, parking cameras, lane keeping assistance, smart cruise control, blind-spot detection, and multiple airbags. Under the hood, the Elantra 2021 will come with 2.0L petrol engine that generates 147Ps of power and 179Nm of torque with a CVT transmission. Hyundai will also have a 1.6L GDI petrol option that will be paired with a 32kW electric motor that will generate a combined 139Ps of power and 264Nm of torque.

One of the lesser talked about, but exciting upcoming cars from Hyundai is the Nexo which is expected to be a 5-seater Electric Vehicle or EV that will emit water. The Nexo is expected to feature an improved version of the Tucson FCEV platform which was discussed last year. According to Hyundai, the Nexo will house a 120kW electric motor that will generate 163Ps of power and 395Nm of torque and will get its power from a hydrogen fuel cell. This fuel cell is expected to give the Nexo a range of more than 600 Kms which is already extremely impressive but Hyundai claims that it could even reach over 1,000 Kms in India. In terms of looks, the hatchback looks compact and very sleek with slim LED headlights and a large grille on the front.
|Expected Launch||19 January, 2022|
Definitely considered as one of the most anticipated cars of the year, the Hyundai Santa Fe 2019 SUV is said to come with a plethora of features that will take “customized driving” to a whole new level. The company has announced that the Santa Fe will be the first car from them to implement a fingerprint sensor technology. This technology will not only give owners keyless entry, it will also be used to start the car and turn off the ignition with just a touch. Once registered, the owner (or other registered users) will get the opportunity to customize their driving experience by automatically adjusting the seats, rear view and side view mirrors, and even the steering wheel by placing their finger on the scanner. Powering the Santa Fe will most likely be a 2.2L diesel engine that is capable of generating 200Ps of power and 440Nm of torque. In the transmission department, the Santa Fe could end up with an 8-speed automatic as well as an H-TRAC All-Wheel-Drive option too. Some of the features noted on the Santa Fe include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless charging for compatible devices, and 8-inch heads-up displays for all-round entertainment.
