1. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Expected Launch

September 15, 2019

24.2 Kmpl

1.5L Petrol, 1.5L Diesel

The previous iteration of the Maruti Ertiga was a complete success, and was one of the most used cars in India, which led the company to announce a new version of it. Expected to launch sometime in September, the 2019 Ertiga will come loaded with new features including a bolder look, halogen projector headlamps, and a 7-inch floating infotainment setup. The newer model will have electric ORVM’s, push button ignition, keyless entry, and enhanced safety with dual front airbags. In terms of transmission, the 1.5L petrol engine will come with a 5-speed manual transmission as well as a 4-speed automatic transmission while the 1.3L diesel variant will have a 5-speed manual transmission only. The car will be fitted with a 45 litre fuel tank which offers an average mileage of 24.2 Kmpl.

2. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
Expected Launch30 September, 2019
Engine1.0L Petrol

Not much has been revealed about the eagerly awaited Maruti S-Presso or Future S, but the little information that is out there, has got a lot of people excited and willing to put in an RC transfer for their existing cars. One of the biggest attractions seems to be the price tag, which is set to start at 4.0 lakhs. At this price point, the S-Presso will compete with the Renault Kwid among other mini-SUV models. According to test images, the car will have a boxy look and will feature Maruti’s Heartect-A safety platform like the WagonR. In fact, it is believed that the S-Presso will share a lot of features found on the WagonR, including rear parking sensors, dual airbags in the front, and power windows. The car will house a BS6 compliant 1.0L petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission, as well as, an optional automatic transmission variant.

3. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Electric

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Electric
Expected LaunchMay 5, 2020

As we move towards a cleaner world, the objective is to sell cars that destroy our environment, and embrace healthier alternatives. Maruti is one such manufacturer that strives to make a difference, and a big step towards that is the WagonR Electric or WagonR EV. The Japanese version of the electric WagonR is already on sale in the country and features a petrol and hybrid engine. The all-electric version though, is set to take India by storm by May 2020. Maruti is already testing the EV on Indian roads to collect data and evaluate whether it is capable of taking on the different weather and road conditions in the country. Maruti is also working on a Lithium-ion battery plant to produce the best possible power sources for the electric WagonR.

4. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
Expected LaunchApril 17, 2020
Engine1.6L Petrol, 1.6L Diesel

Maruti has been frequently upgrading their most popular models including the Swift, Alto, and the DZire, and now they have turned their attention to the Vitara. The new Grand Vitara, unveiled in Paris, will have a new look with chrome grille, horizontal projector headlamps, vertical fog lamps, and skid plates on the front. The interiors have a sporty finish thanks to the all black and orange strip that runs through it on the dashboard. Under the hood, the Grand Vitara is fitted with a 1.6L petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission system. There is also a 1.6L diesel model which comes with a 6-speed manual transmission only. For those who do own the older version of the Vitara, the newer upgrades should have you using a used car evaluation tool soon enough.

5. Maruti Suzuki Jimny

Maruti Suzuki Jimny
Expected LaunchMarch 15, 2021
Engine1.5L Petrol

There are some mixed feelings when it comes to the Maruti Jimny as the company announced that it wouldn’t be launching the car in India, but has not completely ruled it out. While the current model has a 3-door design, the Jimny, if launched, will most probably have a larger 5-door design. The car will almost certainly have a 1.5L petrol engine combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission system. Coming standard in all models will be a Four-Wheel-Drive system for better control on all terrains. Some of the other features that could make it onto the Jimny are 6 airbags, a 7-inch infotainment system, automatic LED headlamps, automatic climate control, ESP or Electronic Stability Program, hill hold and hill descent control, and TC or Traction Control.

Given the fact that India is a country that is constantly on the rise in terms of development, Maruti’s upcoming cars will definitely give customers the opportunity to get on board with the inevitable progress. Ever since the company was established, it has stuck to what it knows best – reliability, efficiency, and affordability and offers that, and so much more, to the public.
