VinFast VF7 - Premium Electric SUV Built to Disrupt
The VF7 is VinFast's flagship vehicle for India in the first phase, which was first exhibited at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and is now locally assembled in Tamil Nadu. Unlike smaller urban-oriented EVs, the VF7 is made as a full-fledged mid-size electric SUV with a heavy focus on space, range, and highway capability.
The VF7 lives to give the impression of being complete from day one. It's born electric platform means flat floor, long wheel base and generous boot-space, while multiple powertrain options give buyers a choice between the efficiency-oriented FWD versions or high-performance AWD trims. The experience it strives to provide is simple: smooth city driving, surety of highway stability and EV performance that does not compromise. The VF7 has an innate appeal to buyers who are looking to upgrade from ICE SUVs or first-time EV owners who want safety, warranty confidence and long-term ownership reassurance without relying on legacy brands.
The VF7 price in India begins at ₹21.89 lakh and extends to ₹26.79 lakh (ex-showroom), depending upon the variant and drivetrain. Pricing is aggressive for the size, battery capacity and performance on offer, especially in the AWD variants.
| Variant | Battery, Power & Torque | Claimed Range | Ex-Showroom Price |
| VF7 Earth | 59.6 kWh battery, 177 hp, 250 Nm | 438 km | ₹21.89 lakh |
| VF7 Wind | 70.8 kWh battery, 204 hp, 310 Nm | 532 km | ₹24.69 lakh |
| VF7 Wind Infinity | 70.8 kWh battery, 204 hp, 310 Nm | 532 km | ₹25.19 lakh |
| VF7 Sky | 70.8 kWh battery, AWD, 350 hp, 500 Nm | 510 km | ₹26.19 lakh |
| VF7 Sky Infinity | 70.8 kWh battery, AWD, 350 hp, 500 Nm | 510 km | ₹26.79 lakh |
The VF7 is available with two battery sizes and both single motor FWD and dual motor AWD configurations.
Earth (Base FWD)
Uses a battery of 59.6 kWh with 177 hp and 250 Nm. It is focused on efficiency and smoothness, which is ideal for daily urban use. Acceleration is calm rather than exciting, but perfectly usable for city driving and occasional highway drives.
Wind / Wind Infinity (FWD)
Steps to 70.8 kWh battery producing 204 hp & 310 Nm. This is the sweet spot for most buyers as it offers strong highway cruising ability, faster overtakes and the longest claimed range in the lineup.
Sky / Sky Infinity (AWD)
The performance flagship. Dual motors provide 350hp and 500 Nm, and propel the VF7 into proper performance EV territory. The 0 - 100 km/h sprint in 5.8 seconds is more effortless than aggressive and is fast, but not intimidating.
Throughout the variants, the VF7 feels stable at speed, planted through corners through its low centre of gravity. The ride is tuned for Indian roads, which is slightly firm on poor roads but settles down well on highways.
Each VF7 variant is based on a very specific use case.
VF7 Earth
Best suited for buyers getting into the premium EV space. It delivers the core VF7 experience of safety, space and technology at the lowest entry price.
VF7 Wind
Adds the larger battery, better performance and Level-2 ADAS. This is the most balanced variant for mixed city/ highway usage.
VF7 Wind Infinity
Builds on Wind by adding a panoramic glass roof, better cabin ambience and premium appeal.
VF7 Sky
Targets performance-oriented purchasers. The AWD setup changes the character of the VF7, making it quick, confident and engaging without compromising comfort.
VF7 Sky Infinity
The most complete VF7. Combines maximum performance with the full set of features for buyers who want to have everything that VinFast can offer in one package.
Real-world VF7 range is very dependent on battery size and drive train.
| Variant | Battery | ARAI Range | Expected Real-World Range (Approx) |
| Earth FWD | 59.6 kWh | 438 km | 330–350 km |
| Wind FWD | 70.8 kWh | 532 km | 400–430 km |
| Sky AWD | 70.8 kWh | 510 km | 380–410 km |
City driving is aided by regenerative braking and extended high-speed highway runs decrease range. Fast charging support ensures quick top-ups when it is required.
The VF7 takes a coupe-SUV approach with a sharp crease and a wide, planted look. The V-shaped LED DRLs provide it instant brand recognition and the connected LED tail lamps mirror the front signature neatly.
Flush door handles, 19-inch alloy wheels for India and 190 mm ground clearance make it practical and stylish. The design is modern but not polarising, which works well for buyers who are looking for long-term ownership.
Inside, there is a clean, minimalist approach to the VF7. The massive central touchscreen is responsible for most of the vehicle's functions, with a standard head-up display rather than a traditional instrument cluster.
The flat floor and long wheelbase add up to good rear-seat comfort, and the 537-litre boot gives added real practicality. Vegan leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control and connected tech ensure the cabin feels premium, but not overdone in style.
Safety is one of the strongest pillars of the VF7. Strong structural integrity and occupant protection were confirmed with Bharat NCAP's 5-star rating. Seven airbags are standard throughout the variants, including a front centre airbag.
Level-2 ADAS includes real-world assistance as opposed to gimmicks, and helps reduce fatigue on highways and improves one's overall confidence. Battery safety ensured by stable LFP chemistry & water-resistant construction is also crucial for Indian conditions.
The VF7 is positioning itself as a value premium disruptor rather than a budget EV.
Where the VF7 stands out
- Higher performance and longer warranty than most rivals
- AWD option is uncommon at this price point
- Strong safety focus with 5-star BNCAP
Key Rivals
- BYD Sealion 7: Similar tech focus, delivers a stronger performance but costs a lot more.
- Hyundai IONIQ 5: More brand trust, and more practical but costlier and doesn’t look as sleek
- Tata Curvv.ev: More affordable, but less space and power as it belongs to a lower segment of vehicles.
Like every car out there, even the Vinfast VF7 has its set of pros and cons. Here is a quick look at them
| Pros | Cons |
| Strong performance options, including AWD, lead to an exciting drive | New brand with limited service reach can lead to lower trust from potential buyers. |
| 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating gives peace of mind and a sense of security | Heavy reliance on touchscreen controls can get a while to get used to |
| Long 10-year vehicle and battery warranty provides reassurance to first-time EV buyers and even to those hesitating to select a new brand. | The panoramic roof lacks a sunblind, thereby causing a bit of inconvenience on sunny days |
| Spacious cabin and large boot enhances the practicality of the vehicle. | Firm low-speed ride on poor roads can be bothersome on bad roads |
The VF7 makes a good case for buyers who are looking for more than an electric badge. It provides space, performance, safety and long-term ownership confidence in one package, particularly in the Wind and Sky variants. Moreover, the aggressive 10-year warranty and great safety credentials help overcome concerns about brand familiarity.
That being said, the VF7 is most suited to buyers in major cities where VinFast's network is active and for those comfortable adapting to a touchscreen-heavy cabin. If you are looking for brand legacy, then options from Tata or Hyundai might be compelling, but obviously, they do not match Vinfast’s feature-to-rupee ratio. If you are looking for performance, range and warranty security over resale legacy and brand familiarity, the VF7 stands out as one of the most compelling premium electric SUVs on sale in India.
