Maruti Fronx facelift spied testing again — Hybrid engine, ADAS, and all the changes expected
- 1Upcoming Fronx facelift is expected to launch in the second half of 2026
- 2Front fascia, bumpers, grille, and LED lighting are likely to be updated
- 3An earlier undisguised test mule was seen with a 'Hybrid' badge on the tailgate
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has been one of the best things to happen to the NEXA showroom since its launch in April 2023. It gained buyers quickly, crossed 1 lakh units in under 10 months, and continues to sell well. It is not surprising that Maruti Suzuki is now working on a mid life update.
The interesting part is how big this update could be. It is not just about new colours or small feature changes. Test mule sightings since mid 2024 point to bigger upgrades. These may include a series hybrid setup, Level 2 ADAS and even an all wheel drive option. If these make it to production, they could be firsts in this segment. Here is a closer look at what spy shots and reports suggest so far.
Upcoming Maruti Fronx facelift may look like — Design updates

Based on camouflaged test mules, the design update on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx looks like a light refresh. The overall shape is expected to stay the same, including its coupe style stance and compact proportions. Most changes will be in the details.
At the front, it may get a revised grille and a slightly updated bumper with cleaner lines. The LED headlamps and DRLs are also likely to be updated. Some reports suggest the design could take cues from newer Maruti models. At the rear, the tail lamps and bumper may see small changes. The 16 inch alloy wheels are expected to continue, though with a new design.
2026 Maruti Fronx interior & features
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift cabin is expected to add some missing features from the outgoing model. The touchscreen could be upgraded from the current 9 inch unit to a larger 10.25 inch screen with a new interface. Higher variants may also get a fully digital instrument cluster instead of the semi digital one. Ventilated seats are likely for top trims, as this is a common demand in India.

A sunroof has also been mentioned in some reports, but this is not confirmed and may or may not make it to production. Spy shots also hint at changes in door trims and upholstery, suggesting a refreshed interior look. Meanwhile, features like a head up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a 6 speaker setup, keyless entry, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, UV cut window glass, rear wiper and washer are expected to be carried over from the outgoing model.
Maruti Fronx safety — ADAS is the headline upgrade
If there is one feature getting the most attention in the Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift, it is ADAS. A test mule was spotted with a LiDAR sensor and radar hardware, which suggests that advanced safety tech is being tested. If introduced, the car could get a Level 2 ADAS package with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and forward collision warning.

This is not confirmed yet, but if it makes it to production, it would be a big step for this segment. On the safety side, the Fronx has not been tested under Bharat NCAP so far. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which it is based on, has a 4 star rating. The Fronx already comes with six airbags as standard, and some improvements in structural strength may also be expected with this update.
Maruti Fronx engine options — What powertrains are expected
The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift is expected to keep its current engines. This includes the 1.2 litre petrol, the 1.0 litre turbo petrol, and the CNG option. Some minor updates for efficiency are likely. The big update could be a series hybrid system. This is not confirmed, but test mules suggest it is being tested. In this setup, the engine charges a battery and the car runs on an electric motor, which could improve fuel efficiency a lot.
A flex fuel version is also a possibility, as Maruti has already shown a concept that can run on higher ethanol blends. This is not confirmed yet. There is also some talk of an all wheel drive setup based on spy shots. This is still unconfirmed and, if offered, will likely be for better grip rather than off road use.
Maruti Fronx engine price & rivals

Based on the outgoing Maruti Suzuki Fronx price range of Rs 6.85 lakh to Rs 12.88 lakh, the facelift model is expected to be priced around Rs 7 lakh to Rs 13 lakh. The hybrid version, if launched, could be priced higher, possibly between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 14 lakh.
The Fronx will continue to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq, Kia Syros, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.
Upcoming Maruti Fronx facelift launch timeline
Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed a launch timeline for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift yet. As of now, nothing official has been announced. However, frequent test mule sightings suggest the car is at an advanced stage of development.
The standard petrol versions are expected to launch in the second half of 2026, likely around the festive season. The hybrid variant could arrive later, around early 2027. An official reveal may happen sometime in late 2026.
