Outline

The disguised test mule of the next-generation Hyundai Creta has been caught on camera once again, and this time it gives us a far clearer picture of how much has changed. A recent spy video from Manali shows the new Creta driving next to the current 2nd-gen model, and when they are parked side by side, the size difference is hard to miss.

This is not an optical illusion from an awkward camera angle. The new Creta is clearly taller, longer, and more planted-looking than the car it will replace, and the spy footage adds to a growing body of evidence about what Hyundai is building.

What Hyundai’s Camouflaged Creta Test Mule Reveals About The Upcoming Facelift

The 2027 Hyundai Creta test mule spotted in Manali was heavily camouflaged, but a few details were still visible. The SUV was equipped with a panoramic sunroof, indicating that Hyundai was likely testing a higher-spec variant.

During the sighting, the new Creta was seen alongside the current second-generation model. With both vehicles aligned, the test mule appeared noticeably longer at the rear. Hyundai had also fitted what looked like a temporary rear overhang extension, a common method used to conceal final dimensions during testing. Even accounting for that, the new model appeared larger than the current Creta.

The next-generation Creta is expected to measure around 4,500 mm in length, up from 4,330 mm on the current model. This increase is expected to come from Hyundai's new K3 platform, which will also underpin the next-generation Kia Seltos. The longer platform should help improve rear-seat legroom and increase boot space beyond the current 433-litre capacity. The test vehicle was also seen with alloy wheels borrowed from the Seltos, a common practice during prototype testing and not necessarily indicative of the final production design.

What earlier Hyundai Creta facelift spy shots have already confirmed

While the latest Manali sighting highlighted the larger size of the next-generation Hyundai Creta, earlier test mules have already revealed several key upgrades. One of the biggest changes is the new Pleos Connect infotainment system. This Android-based platform is central to Hyundai's Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) strategy and supports full over-the-air updates. That means Hyundai can roll out software improvements, new features, operating system updates, and even certain vehicle tuning updates after purchase. Importantly, the system is expected to retain physical buttons alongside the touchscreen.

Previous test vehicles have also revealed a stalk-mounted drive selector, similar to the shift-by-wire setup used in the Hyundai Creta Electric. Spy shots have also shown a multi-link rear suspension setup, which would be a significant upgrade over the torsion beam arrangement used on lower variants of the current model.

The new Creta is also expected to offer Level 2+ ADAS, along with a broader range of safety and driver-assistance features than the current generation.

2027 Hyundai Creta facelift launch timeline, rivals, & more

Hyundai is expected to unveil the third-generation Hyundai Creta globally around November or December 2026, with the India launch likely to follow in early 2027. A hybrid powertrain is also expected to join the lineup shortly after launch, bringing the Creta into direct competition with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Top variants could also offer an AWD option.

The current Creta remains one of India's best-selling SUVs, and Hyundai has already started preparing for the model transition through variant updates and attractive offers on the outgoing version. That makes these latest spy shots particularly relevant for buyers deciding whether to wait for the new generation or buy the current model. Once launched, the new Creta will continue to rival the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and the upcoming Tata Sierra.
