BMW has launched the X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India at an introductory price of Rs 49.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The new version is longer, more spacious and comes with more features than the standard X1. It is locally built at BMW Group Plant Chennai and is available in petrol form. Bookings are now open at BMW dealerships across India.
2026 BMW X1 LWB dimensions and space
The BMW X1 LWB measures 4,616mm in length, 2,104mm in width and 1,641mm in height, with a 2,800mm wheelbase. The wheelbase is 108mm longer than the standard X1, adding 150mm of rear legroom and 109mm of extra kneeroom. The rear seats also have 15mm more cushioning and can recline up to 28.5 degrees.
All-new BMW X1 LWB exterior design
The 2026 X1 LWB gets an upright front with BMW's kidney grille and adaptive LED headlights. The headlights also feature a cornering function and High Beam Assistant. Other design highlights include aluminium roof rails, squared wheel arches and 18-inch M alloy wheels. At the rear, it features 3D LED tail lights and a large diffuser. It is available in four colours: Night Dusk Blue, Skyscraper Grey, Carbon Black and Mineral White.

BMW X1 LWB interior and features
Inside, the X1 LWB features BMW's Widescreen Curved Display with BMW Operating System 9. The cabin also has an M Sport steering wheel, ambient lighting, Pearl Chrome details and a wireless charger. A 9 sq ft panoramic sunroof is claimed to be the largest in the segment. Boot space stands at 540 litres, increasing to 1,700 litres with the rear seats folded.
Other features include a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, BMW Digital Key Plus and Comfort Access. The Digital Key can be shared with up to 18 users. The optional BMW Digital Premium Package adds features such as enhanced BMW Maps, trip suggestions and additional My Modes.
2026 BMW X1 LWB safety features
Safety features include eight airbags, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Assistant, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Evasion Assistant, Rear Collision Warning and Attentiveness Assistant. The Parking Assistant Plus adds a 360-degree camera and a Reversing Assistant that can remember and retrace the last 50 metres of the car's path.
Other features include ABS with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX mounts and an emergency spare wheel.
BMW X1 LWB engine and performance
The X1 LWB uses a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 156hp and 230Nm. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and sends power to the front wheels. BMW claims a 0-100km/h time of 9.3 seconds and fuel efficiency of 15.5km/l. The SUV also features Comfort suspension tuned for Indian road conditions.
BMW X1 LWB warranty and finance
BMW offers a two-year unlimited-kilometre warranty and 24x7 roadside assistance for two years. Service plans can be extended up to 10 years or 1,00,000km, while warranty coverage can also be extended up to 10 years. Through BMW Smart Finance, monthly payments start at Rs 44,444, with an assured buyback value of 60% after four years.
