- 1Hyundai Bayon features Hyundai's first generative AI voice assistant in India
- 2Bookings are open at Hyundai dealerships and on hyundai.co.in
- 3Deliveries will start in the festive season
Hyundai Motor India has unveiled the India-spec Hyundai Bayon, which the company calls an “Intelligent Utility Vehicle”. The SUV will launch on October 26, 2026, when its prices are also expected to be announced.
Bayon's bookings are open online at hyundai.co.in and at authorised Hyundai dealerships for Rs 11,000. Deliveries are expected to begin during the festive season. The SUV will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s line-up and is expected to be around 4.2 metres long.
Hyundai Bayon design
The India-spec Bayon follows Hyundai’s Art of Steel design language and has a boxier shape, as seen in the company’s design sketches and the debut images. At the front, the Bayon gets a slim LED daytime running light strip across the upper section, with rectangular lighting elements at both ends. The bonnet has raised contours near the edges. The main headlamps are placed vertically in black surrounds. A wide black grille with horizontal elements sits between them, while silver-finished inserts add contrast to the lower bumper.

At the rear, a horizontal light strip connects the slim tail-lamps. Vertical lighting elements sit at the outer edges. The Hyundai logo is placed above the widely spaced BAYON lettering on the tailgate. The rear windscreen gets a roof-mounted spoiler and an integrated wiper. Black cladding covers the lower tailgate and bumper, with silver-finished inserts on both sides.
The side profile has clean creases across the doors, black cladding around the wheel arches and along the lower doors. Other features include blacked-out pillars, roof rails, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs, and multi-spoke alloy wheels with a geometric design. The rising window line and sloping roof at the rear give the SUV a tapered shape.
Hyundai Bayon displays and features

The Hyundai Bayon cabin gets two curved 12.3-inch displays placed side by side. The infotainment system uses Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), which runs on NVIDIA technology. It supports online navigation, a personalised control panel, split-screen use and quick controls similar to those on a smartphone.
The interface supports 10 regional languages and two international languages across the infotainment and instrument cluster screens. The SUV also gets more than 500 built-in voice commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu. These commands can operate several in-car functions without an internet connection.
Up to 19 vehicle controllers support over-the-air (OTA) updates. Hyundai Bluelink offers more than 70 connected features, including remote start and stop, vehicle information, remote controls, smartphone and smartwatch connectivity, location and navigation services, and safety and security features. Bluelink is subject to its own terms and conditions.
Generative AI voice assistant

The Bayon gets Hyundai Motor India’s first generative AI voice assistant. It uses Intelligence by Perplexity and voice AI powered by SoundHound AI. Unlike systems that respond mainly to fixed commands, this assistant is designed to understand conversational requests and provide relevant answers.
Hyundai says drivers can use it to:
- Prepare travel itinerary for a road trip
- Real time weather info
- Find hotels and restaurants at a destination or along the route
- Get suggestions for top five shopping destinations nearby
- Check sports scores and updates
The assistant works only in English. Hyundai also states that its responses are meant for information and convenience and should not replace human judgement.
2026 Hyundai Bayon engine and transmission

The Hyundai Bayon uses a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder MPi petrol engine that produces 115PS and 144Nm of torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
The IVT is Hyundai’s name for a continuously variable transmission (CVT), an automatic gearbox that does not use fixed gears. Hyundai has not announced the Bayon’s fuel-efficiency figures. Some reports have mentioned a CNG version, but the company has not confirmed it.
