Pre-sales in Germany and several other European countries begin on October 13, with prices starting at 42,695 euros (approx Rs 46.2 lakh). Sales are scheduled to begin in early 2027, alongside the petrol, diesel and hybrid versions of the regular Tiguan.

Volkswagen says it has built more than 950,000 units of the ID.4 and ID.5. The new model gets a new name, exterior design and interior. The company has not announced plans to launch it in India. All prices and equipment details in this article apply to the German market.

The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan follows Volkswagen's Pure Positive design language. It has a more traditional SUV shape than the softer crossover design of the ID.4 and ID.5, with sharper lines and sculpted surfaces. The electric SUV brings back conventional pull-style door handles. It is built in Emden, Germany, and uses the MEB+ electric platform.

It also features physical climate and steering wheel controls, a volume and track controller, and two Qi2 wireless charging pads with magnetic phone holders.

The Retro display offers a Golf IV-inspired instrument layout and matching infotainment graphics. A virtual garage includes six models: Golf I, Golf II Country, Golf IV, Tiguan I, Race Touareg and Beetle.

The optional Connected Travel Assist can change lanes on motorways and bring the car to a stop at red traffic lights. These systems have operating limits, and the driver remains responsible for the vehicle.
