MG Gloster discontinued as Majestor takes over flagship SUV position
- 1MG has officially removed the Gloster from the official website
- 2Attempting to visit the Gloster's URL now redirects to the Majestor's product page
- 3Gloster was last priced between Rs 38.33 lakh and Rs 43.17 lakh ex-showroom
The MG Gloster's long run in India is over. MG India has quietly pulled the Gloster from its official website, with the model's product page now redirecting visitors to the listing for the MG Majestor. The move confirms what the market had suspected for some time: the Gloster has been discontinued, and the Majestor is its replacement as MG's flagship full-size SUV in India.
How the MG Gloster discontinuation happened
The clearest signal of the Gloster's end came from the website itself. When you visit the Gloster's URL on the MG India website, it automatically redirects to the Majestor's page. This is not an error or a technical glitch. It is a deliberate rerouting that signals the Gloster is no longer part of the active lineup.

What makes this slightly ironic is that MG had not been transparent about this outcome. In the FAQ section of the Majestor's product page, MG continues to state that the Gloster will remain on sale alongside the Majestor, offering customers a choice of two full-size SUVs. That claim is now inconsistent with the actual availability situation, which is something buyers researching the Gloster should be aware of.
What the Majestor brings to replace it
The MG Majestor was launched in May 2026 at a starting price of Rs 40.99 lakh ex-showroom, with the top variant priced at Rs 44.99 lakh. It is built on a different platform than the Gloster and takes MG's flagship positioning in a more modern direction. The Majestor is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 215 PS and 478 Nm, a significant change from the Gloster's diesel powertrain. It is positioned to compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Mahindra Scorpio Classic in the full-size SUV space.
MG Gloster's legacy
The Gloster entered India in 2020 and was MG's most expensive and capable SUV in the country for several years. It competed with the Fortuner and offered a wide range of features at a competitive price point relative to its size and spec level. Its 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, and available 4WD configuration gave it genuine all-terrain credibility. The last ex-showroom prices ranged from Rs 38.33 lakh to Rs 43.17 lakh.
With the Majestor now in place and the Gloster's page gone, MG's full-size SUV story in India has moved to its next chapter.
