Outline

The Nissan Tekton was supposed to make its India debut today, February 4th, but that launch has been quietly postponed. There was no announcement, no explanation, just a postponement slipped under the radar. It’s a familiar pattern. The Tekton Gravite faced the same situation when its official unveiling, scheduled for January 21, was pushed back without a word from the company.

If you’ve been waiting for updates, here’s a closer look at the top five things you need to know about the Nissan Tekton launch in India.

Nissan Tekton launch delayed due to……

Nissan Tekton

Nissan had announced its product roadmap last year, with the Gravite planned for early 2026, the Tekton in mid-2026, and a 7-seater C-SUV in early 2027. The delay in the Gravite’s debut disrupted this schedule. While Nissan has not explained the reasons, it seems likely that the company may start with the Gravite first, then follow with the Tekton, to realign the roadmap. The Gravite is now set to debut on February 17.

Debuting two new models within a very short span, around 10 days from the Gravite debut, can be demanding for any brand. Even the original schedule, with the Gravite debut on January 21 and the Tekton on February 4, had only a 14-day gap. On paper, the difference between 14 days and 10 days may seem small.

In practice, a debut involves much more than a calendar date. Production lines must be ready, supply chains aligned, marketing campaigns executed, media events scheduled, and dealer networks prepared. Any unexpected delay in one model can affect the timing of another. These operational and logistical considerations probably could also be the reason for postponing the Tekton.

The Nissan Tekton interior hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but earlier spy shots of a test mule give a few early hints. Even with the dashboard covered, three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, digital driver display, and AC vent were clearly visible. A rotary knob on the passenger side suggests it could control climate or seat settings.

Other visible features include cruise control and adjustable seats. For the production model, expected highlights include a large touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, 360-degree cameras, powered and ventilated seats, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, six airbags, parking sensors, and auto-dimming IRVM, among others.

upcoming Nissan Tekton engine options

The Nissan Tekton will share its platform with the upcoming Renault Duster. The new Duster comes with multiple petrol options. There’s a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 100PS and 160Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol delivers 163PS and 280Nm, available exclusively with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.

On top of that, the Duster gets a strong-hybrid petrol setup, combining a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine producing 109PS with a 49PS electric motor powered by a 1.4 kWh battery pack.

2026 Nissan Tekton new launch date

The Nissan Tekton is expected to launch by next month at the latest. Once it debuts, this SUV will enter a highly competitive segment, taking on rivals like the new Renault Duster, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Vitara, and Honda Elevate.

Nissan Tekton price

When it launches, the upcoming Nissan Tekton is expected to fall somewhere between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 19 lakh, putting it in a relatively budget-friendly zone for a 7-seater SUV in this segment.
