From April 2026, Tata Motors will increase prices across its passenger vehicle lineup. This will impact its petrol, diesel and CNG models, including popular cars like Tiago, Punch, Nexon, Harrier and Safari. The hike is not unexpected, but it still raises an important question: how much of a difference will it actually make?
How much are Tata car prices going up in April 2026?
Tata Motors has announced a price increase of around 0.5%, depending on the model and variant. In real terms, this means buyers may end up paying anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand rupees more.
One important thing to note is that this increase is focused on Tata’s internal combustion engine (ICE) lineup. As of now, there is no clear indication that this applies to its electric vehicles.
This is also not the first time Tata Motors has increased prices, and it will likely not be the last. Car companies usually adjust prices multiple times a year depending on cost changes. What stands out this time is the scale. Earlier, around the start of 2026, Tata had announced a higher percentage price hike. Compared to that, this increase feels more controlled and marginal.
Why Tata is increasing prices again
The reason remains simple - rising costs. Things like raw materials, supply chain expenses and overall production costs have been under pressure for a while now. Carmakers usually try to absorb these increases, but over time, they pass a part of it on to buyers.
In this case, Tata seems to be taking a more balanced approach. Instead of a sharp jump, the company has gone with a smaller correction to manage costs without affecting demand too much.
