Range Rover Electric bookings open nationwide — 600km range, fast charging & 900mm wading

Range Rover has opened bookings for its first fully electric SUV in India. The Range Rover Electric can be booked with a Rs 10 lakh token amount. It will be built in the UK and imported to India as a CBU, so initial numbers are likely to be limited.
Range Rover Electric variants
The Range Rover Electric will be available in standard and long-wheelbase versions. The range includes SE, Autobiography, SV, SV Black and SV Ultra trims. A special First Edition will also be offered in Belgravia Green, Santorini Black and Varesine Blue. It gets a Light Cloud Ultrafabrics PU and Kvadrat interior. Customers can also use Range Rover's Bespoke service for more choices in paint, materials and embroidery.
With bookings now open, the Range Rover Electric will become the brand's first fully electric flagship SUV.
Range Rover Electric design and interior
The Range Rover Electric looks similar to the fifth-generation Range Rover that arrived in 2021. Changes include a revised grille, new alloy wheels and changes underneath to fit the electric hardware. These updates reduce the drag coefficient by 0.01Cd and can add around 16km of highway range.
The cabin is also mostly the same as the regular Range Rover, including the dashboard, steering wheel, centre console and drive mode selector. New features include an AI-based range predictor and a battery health monitor. It also gets a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated seats with massage function, and multi-zone climate control.
Range Rover Electric motor, battery and range
The SUV uses two electric motors, with each motor producing 260kW. Together, they make 550PS and 850Nm. This is 12PS and 100Nm more than the mild-hybrid V8 version. The Range Rover Electric can go from 0 to 60mph in 4.3 seconds, compared with 4.5 seconds for the V8. It gets a 118.5kWh battery with an 800-volt electrical system.
The claimed WLTP range is up to 600km, while JLR expects around 535km in real-world use. With a 350kW DC fast charger, the battery can charge from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes. A 10-minute charge can add around 220km of range.
Range Rover Electric off-road capability
The electric SUV keeps the off-road ability expected from a Range Rover. It gets active dampers, dual-chamber air springs and rear-wheel steering. Its water-wading depth is 900mm, with the suspension able to raise itself based on water levels.
The SUV weighs 2,885kg, making it 75kg heavier than the PHEV version. It can tow up to 2.5 tonnes, compared with 3 tonnes for the PHEV and 3.5 tonnes for the petrol model. The new traction systems help the SUV deal with slippery surfaces. It can climb a 33-degree incline from a standstill and handle a rolling climb of up to 45 degrees.
Range Rover Electric price in India
JLR has not announced the India price yet. It is expected to cost around Rs 3.5 crore in India. The Range Rover Electric starts at £154,070 in the UK and $138,000 in the US, which is around Rs 1.30 crore before adding Indian import duties and other costs.
