Outline

Renault India has officially revealed the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure for the Duster's 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and the number is strong. Rated at 19.41 kmpl, the smaller engine beats both variants of the 1.3-litre turbo petrol on claimed efficiency, making it the most fuel-efficient option in the new Duster's petrol range.

The 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine produces 100PS (99 bhp) and 166Nm of torque. In the new Duster, it is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic transmission option for this engine, which means buyers who want an AMT or DCT must step up to the 1.3-litre powertrain. The 1.0L is available across the Authentic, Evolution, and Techno variants, covering the more accessible and mid-range positions in the lineup.

Renault Duster mileage comparison — 1.0L vs 1.3L

1.0L Turbo Petrol TCe 1006-speed MT19.41 kmpl
1.3L Turbo Petrol TCe 1606-speed MT17.75 kmpl
1.3L Turbo Petrol TCe 1606-speed DCT18.45 kmpl

The 1.0L MT's 19.41 kmpl figure is 1.66 kmpl more efficient than the 1.3L manual and 0.96 kmpl more efficient than the 1.3L DCT. This is expected, given the smaller displacement and single gearbox option. The 1.0L engine is E20 compatible, as is the 1.3L.

Renault Duster engine specs

The 1.3-litre turbo petrol TCe 160 produces 163PS and 280Nm, available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT with wet clutch. The 1.3L is positioned for buyers who want more power and are willing to trade a little on efficiency for it. Renault has also separately conducted a real-world mileage test on the 1.3L manual, which gives buyers a more grounded picture of what the car actually returns in everyday conditions beyond the ARAI certification.

With the 1.0L figure now confirmed, the complete mileage picture for the new Duster is available. Buyers who are primarily focused on running costs and don't require the additional power of the 1.3L have a clear, quantified case for the smaller engine with the 6-speed manual.
