Combined Skoda and Volkswagen registrations in India reached 8,468 units in September 2026, according to Vahan registration data, marking a 13.8% increase over the 7,440 units registered in the same month last year. On a sequential basis, registrations were also up 8.4% compared with 7,811 units in August 2026, pointing to steady month-on-month momentum for the combine heading into the festive season.

How Skoda-VW's September fits into the wider market

Skoda Kylaq

India's overall passenger vehicle market recorded 4,20,359 registrations in September 2026, up 31.8% year-on-year, with Maruti leading the field with a 40.4% share, followed by Mahindra, Tata and Hyundai. Within this broader picture, the Skoda-Volkswagen combine accounted for roughly 2.0% of total registrations during the month, placing it among the smaller volume players compared with India's top manufacturers, even as its own growth rate kept pace with, and in percentage terms outstripped, some of the bigger names in the market.

It's worth noting that Skoda Auto Volkswagen India reports its two brands, Skoda and Volkswagen, together as a single combined entity under its shared manufacturing and retail structure, so this 8,468-unit figure reflects registrations across both brands' model ranges rather than Skoda alone.

Skoda's model lineup driving these numbers

Skoda currently sells six models in India, spanning the Kylaq, Kushaq, Slavia, Taigun, Kodiaq and Kodiaq RS, with prices ranging from around Rs 7.59 lakh for the Kylaq up to Rs 66.99 lakh for the range-topping Kodiaq RS. The Kylaq, Skoda's compact SUV, has emerged as the brand's clear volume leader in recent months, consistently outselling the rest of the lineup by a significant margin, while the Slavia continues to hold a steady, if comparatively modest, share of monthly sales.

What could lift Skoda's sales further?

The Skoda Slavia facelift, which entered production at the brand's Chakan plant near Pune earlier this month, is expected to give the company a fresh product story heading into the October-November festive period. With its updated design, new 8-speed automatic gearbox option on the 1.0 TSI engine, and added cabin technology, the updated Slavia could help broaden Skoda's appeal beyond the Kylaq-led volumes the brand has relied on through much of 2026, giving the Skoda-VW combine a genuine shot at building further on this September's growth once the facelifted sedan reaches showrooms.
