Tesla Roadster bookings and reservation amount

Tesla Roadster bookings in India require two payments. Customers must first pay Rs 5.01 lakh, followed by the remaining amount within 10 days. The reservation is confirmed only after both payments are received.

The Thrust version is limited to one order per customer, while the Rocket version is available by invitation only. Payments can be made using a credit or debit card or UPI. The initial payment is fully refundable, but refunds will not be issued for modifications to a reservation.

Reservations remain unconfirmed until the required payments are received. If the remaining amount is not paid within 10 days, Tesla may cancel the reservation.

Tesla Roadster versions

The Tesla Roadster features steer-by-wire steering, concealed headlights, microsuede trim and a Track Mode that lowers the ride height. Tesla says the car uses lightweight materials, including magnesium, titanium and carbon fibre.

The Roadster will be offered in three versions: Performance, Thrust and Rocket. The Performance is a two-seater with active aerodynamics and a multi-mode suction system, which Tesla says improves downforce and tyre grip. The Thrust version adds rear-facing cold-gas thrusters developed using SpaceX technology for extra acceleration.

Tesla claims it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than a second and reach a top speed of over 370 km/h. These figures are manufacturer claims for a pre-production model and have not been independently verified. Tesla also notes that the Thrust version may not be available in regions where local laws prohibit its thruster system. The Rocket version is a single-seater with a larger thruster system. Tesla has shown it performing short airborne manoeuvres, but the version is available by invitation only and is not approved for public roads.

Tesla Roadster price, timeline and open questions

Tesla Roadster

Tesla has not announced an official price for the Roadster in India, and the reservation amounts should not be mistaken for the car’s price. Production is planned to begin in 2028, but Tesla has not confirmed when Indian customers will receive their cars. The first models will be left-hand drive, with no timeline announced for right-hand-drive versions. A reservation also does not guarantee a confirmed order or delivery date, so customers should read the terms on Tesla’s India website before making a payment.
